Goblin Heist Powernudge: Slot Overview
Goblin Heist Powernudge is a fantasy-themed slot by Pragmatic Play and the second title to make use of their Powernudge feature. The first was Rise of Giza, an Egyptian odyssey that served as a fairly cautious introduction to the mechanic. Goblin Heist goes further with a more creative setting, combining the Powernudge mechanic with a fresh and potentially interesting Money Respin-style nudging feature.
The sense of curiosity kicks in as soon as Goblin Heist Powernudge loads up. Pragmatic Play has delivered a good-looking, storybook-style slot, and the soundtrack lays on a heavy dose of mystery. That’s even more noticeable in the bonus round, where the music shifts into a funky ska/metal vibe. There isn’t much narrative to speak of, but a sly-looking goblin sits in the bottom-left corner gripping a sack of loot—so we’ll assume he’s just robbed the picture-book castle in the background and press on.
Hopefully, the goblin has left a bit of treasure behind for players to grab, which can happen on a 5×3, 10-payline layout. Wins need at least three matching symbols on a payline, but the twist is that combinations can begin from any reel. For instance, a 3-of-a-kind can connect on reels 3, 4, and 5. In addition, whenever a win hits, the Powernudge mechanic kicks in. Once the payout is made, any reel containing at least one winning symbol will nudge down one position, while reels without winning symbols respin. This nudging cycle continues until no further winning lines remain.
To start the heist, players choose a base bet from 20 p/c to $/€100 and then decide whether to enable the Ante Bet option. Activating it increases the stake by 25% and adds more Mystery Money symbols to the reels, improving the odds of reaching the bonus. In standard play, the maximum RTP of 96.47% is available, dipping slightly to 96.44% with Ante Bet enabled.
The fantasy vibe carries over to the paytable, which includes seven standard paying symbols. From lowest to highest, these are skull keys, scrolls, horns, goblin head-shaped bombs, chests, elven warriors, and goblins. When a full five-symbol line lands, returns range from 1 to 20 times the stake. Perhaps to balance the Powernudge respin behaviour—or because it complicated the calculations—Goblin Heist does not feature wilds at any point.
Goblin Heist Powernudge: Slot Features
The only other symbol worth watching for in Goblin Heist Powernudge is the golden lion Mystery Money symbol, which can land on all five reels. If 6 or more Mystery Money symbols appear at once, they trigger the Money Respin feature. Once activated, standard symbols are cleared away, leaving only Money Symbols or empty spaces. Above the reels, a row of multiplier values appears—starting at x1—with one multiplier positioned above each reel. During the feature, when the reels come to rest and Mystery Money Symbols land, they reveal:
- A cash value of 0.1 to 50 times the total bet.
- A local multiplier of x1, x2, or x3 which is added to the multiplier above it on the respective reel.
- A global multiplier of x1, x2, or x3 which is added to all multipliers above each reel.
After Money Symbols show their cash values, those values are multiplied by the multiplier above the symbol before being paid out. The symbols then revert to their lion form and drop down one position, while the remaining reels respin. The round carries on like this until every existing Money Symbol drops off the bottom of the reels and no additional ones land.
Alongside waiting for six Money Symbols to appear naturally, players can also purchase the Respin feature (where available) for 100 times the stake. RTP when buying fee spins is 96.47%.
Goblin Heist Powernudge: Slot Verdict
Even with the refreshed theme and a completely different bonus round, Goblin Heist felt a lot like Rise of Giza, bringing many of the same strengths and weaknesses. On the plus side, Powernudge isn’t a revolutionary concept, but it is distinctive, and it offers players who want something other than cascades an alternative to try. Just don’t go in expecting huge payouts from Powernudge too often, since the low payline count, absence of wilds, and modest symbol values tend to keep results under control.
Much the same can be said for the Money Respin feature. It takes a fairly original approach to delivering—and then reusing—Money symbols, and adding multipliers is almost always a welcome touch. Some players will likely appreciate how straightforward it is, while others may find the simplicity a bit dull. It’s not exactly a wildly surging engine bursting with hidden power. At its peak, Goblin Heist Powernudge can award up to 4,000x the bet; that’s the win cap, and the feature ends if it reaches that limit. While 4K isn’t the most thrilling ceiling and is easily outshone by larger respin titles, it still feels like a respectable top prize for the audience Goblin Heist seems aimed at.
To finish, the strong production quality makes the game more enjoyable than it might otherwise have been, and Goblin Heist works well as a follow-up to Rise of Giza, retaining familiar elements while exploring a new direction. Powernudge wasn’t especially mind-blowing the first time, but anyone who liked Rise of Giza’s appeal should find plenty to enjoy here too.
