Witch Heart Megaways: Slot Overview
Witches – the spell-casting kind – are a familiar sight in online slots, and they’re usually presented as glamorous and playful rather than the classic, warty child-snatching nightmare. Leaning into that more attractive take, Pragmatic Play’s cauldron-bubbling, eye-of-newt-stirring slot Witch Heart Megaways goes for a polished magical vibe. The theme treatment isn’t especially groundbreaking, and the gameplay largely sticks to established Megaways territory too, using the standard tumble system and free spins with a rising win multiplier. The standout twist is the Witch Heart Wild symbols, which can spread extra wilds across the reels after they’ve helped create a set number of wins.
Whatever you think of the rest, Witch Heart Megaways is at least a good-looking slot. These games almost never aim to be genuinely frightening, but this one gestures in that direction with a glowing-eyed, jagged-toothed tree on one side of the reels and a strange, towered home under a huge full moon on the other. In terms of atmosphere, it lands somewhere between “Beetlejuice” and “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” – mysterious and a little spooky, but ultimately safe and light.

Running on the Megaways engine under license from Evolution, Witch Heart Megaways drops 2 to 7 symbols on each reel of the main grid, with an additional top row holding 4 symbols, for up to 200,704 ways to win. There are three ways to play: standard spins from 20 c to $/€240 per spin, the optional Ante Bet (raising the stake by 50% to double the chance of triggering free spins), or purchasing the free spins bonus outright. The maximum RTP on regular play is 96.49%, and the volatility is high.
The jagged J through A card symbols are the lower-value icons, paying 0.4x to 0.45x the bet for 6 OAK. Higher-paying symbols include candles, potion bottles, cauldrons, cats, owls, and the witch, which return 0.5x to 3x the bet for 6 OAK. With the tumble mechanic, any winning symbols are removed and new ones fall into place, giving another opportunity to connect wins. This continues as long as each tumble creates a fresh winning result.
Witch Heart Megaways: Slot Features

Alongside tumbles, Witch Heart Megaways includes exploding Witch Heart Wilds, free spins enhanced by a progressive win multiplier, and a feature buy option.
Witch Heart Wild
Witch Heart Wild symbols can replace any symbol except the scatter, and they can land anywhere except the leftmost reel. Within a tumble chain, once a Witch Heart Wild has contributed to a winning combination for the third time, it detonates and adds 2 to 9 new wild symbols into random grid positions. The added wilds can only be used in one winning combination before vanishing.
Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters anywhere awards 10, 15, 20, or 30 free spins, respectively. The bonus starts with an x1 win multiplier, and every winning tumble increases the multiplier by +1 for the remainder of the round. When Witch Heart Wild symbols explode after being involved in their third win, there is a chance for the win multiplier to randomly increase, based on how many Witch Heart Wilds explode at once – up to x6 for 1 Witch Heart Wild, up to x13 for 2 simultaneous Witch Heart Wilds, or up to x20 for 3 simultaneous Witch Heart Wilds. Additional spins are also available: players receive another 10, 15, 20, or 30 free spins if 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters appear.
Feature Buy
Players can purchase the free spins feature (normally triggered by 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters) for 150 times the bet.

Witch Heart Megaways: Slot Verdict
To start with, Witch Heart Megaways does a solid job of creating an invitingly mysterious magical setting that players can sink into. On the other hand, unless you’re particularly into witch-themed games, it comes across as fairly middle-of-the-road. That doesn’t mean it’s poor, though. Pragmatic Play generally delivers slick-looking releases, and that alone keeps Witch Heart Megaways from feeling cheap or unpleasant. The occult, arcane flavour is strong enough to offset more familiar elements like the unnamed witch, skulls, and candles. It may not reinvent the theme, but it doesn’t undermine it either.
Where it could have landed a bigger punch is in the mechanics. For a Megaways title, the feature set feels quite standard: tumbles, free spins, and a climbing win multiplier – all very 2016-17. To stop Witch Heart Megaways from becoming a complete Bonanza copycat, Pragmatic Play introduced Witch Heart Wilds, which persist through three wins before exploding. In the base game, Witch Heart Wilds didn’t show up often, but they appeared more regularly during free spins. That’s especially useful because they not only add extra wilds to the reels, but can also boost the win multiplier – sometimes by a significant amount – when they explode.
Witch Heart Wilds may not be a dramatic leap forward, but they provide the small dose of freshness Witch Heart Megaways badly needs. With a 9,000x the bet win cap, it’s also not among the highest-potential Megaways slots, and overall it often felt like playing Bonanza in a pointy hat. Worth a small try if the Witch Heart Wilds concept appeals, but it’s not a witch slot that truly casts a powerful spell.
