Starting up Wish Upon a Leprechaun Megaways for the first time left us feeling more puzzled and unmoved than thrilled. Puzzled, because Blueprint Gaming has produced so many leprechaun/Irish themed slots that we genuinely had to confirm we hadn’t covered this one already. Unmoved, because they tend to share a very similar look, and with most Blueprint Megaways releases you generally have a good idea of what’s coming. That said, this doesn’t make them poor games. In fact, we’re big fans of Blueprint, and Wish Upon a Leprechaun Megaways ended up being a genuinely enjoyable play. Keep reading and we’ll explain why.

Wish Upon a Leprechaun first launched in 2017 as a 5-reel, 20-payline slot. From a visual standpoint, the Megaways edition is largely the same, but in terms of gameplay it’s a completely different animal. The clearest change is the Megaways engine, delivering cascading symbols and a layout of 6 reels with 117,649 ways to win at full expansion. Alongside that, you get a stack of features, including multiple reel modifiers and a free spins round where the rising win multiplier paired with those modifiers can produce enormous results of up to 50,000 times your stake. With medium to high variance, it’s available on desktop and mobile, and you can spin for as little as 0.10 to €/$10 per spin.

As noted above, Wish Upon a Leprechaun Megaways is almost a carbon copy of the original in terms of presentation. You’re back in the vibrant Irish countryside, with the reels forming the front of the leprechaun’s cottage. He’s still positioned in the same place, responding to what happens on the reels. Just don’t let the game sit too long, or he’ll nod off — complete with audible snoring. The paytable doesn’t hold any real shocks either. During the round, you can retrigger it for 5 or 10 extra spins by landing 3 or 4 scatter symbols in the horizontal reel.

Once the feature starts, it follows the familiar pattern: the win multiplier increases by 1 after every cascade, with no cap. On top of that, the reel modifiers can also trigger here, and together with the growing multiplier they can create some very strong outcomes.

Wish Upon a Leprechaun Megaways: Verdict

For the most part, Wish Upon a Leprechaun Megaways feels like classic Blueprint. If you’ve played their games before, you’ll immediately recognize the formula. Even without much novelty, it’s incredibly entertaining thanks to the fast-paced action, attractive visuals, fun feature set, and — above all — the huge 50,000x potential that can keep players fully engaged.

Our one real gripe is that the 95.5% RTP sits a bit below many of their other Megaways releases. If you can overlook that and you enjoy Blueprint’s Megaways line, Wish Upon a Leprechaun Megaways is well worth trying. Otherwise, you may prefer established favorites like Gods of Olympus Megaways, Tiki Treasures Megaways, or Return of Kong Megaways.
