Tricks and Treats: Slot Overview
All Saints’ Day eve must be close, because when this review was written, a couple of creepy-looking slots had surfaced just in time for Halloween. Thanks largely to North American tradition, Halloween goes hand in hand with gathering free candy, and if you don’t hand any out, you can expect some kind of nasty trick. That brings us to today’s title: an online slot from Red Tiger called Tricks and Treats, blending classic spooky-season themes with Trick symbols, Treat symbols, and Halloween Spins.
But is Halloween supposed to be genuinely frightening—goosebumps, cold sweats, and wondering what you just saw—or is it mostly pretend cobwebs, pumpkins, and sweets? Perhaps it’s better left unanswered. Either way, Halloween Spins isn’t the sort of game that will have you lying awake questioning reality. It carries a mild Nightmare Before Christmas vibe and takes place in a strange old town where some buildings stand almost straight while others tilt at impossible angles without collapsing into each other. Along the streets, carved pumpkins sit on porch steps, lights are strung overhead, and ghosts and bats drift around. Visually, Tricks and Treats has charm—very PG charm—but charm nonetheless.

And just as Tricks and Treats isn’t likely to scare the life out of you, it probably won’t be setting any record-breaking numbers either. Still, anyone not overly concerned with chasing the biggest treats can play on any device, choosing a stake of 10 p/c to $/€100 per spin. With low volatile maths, wins land when at least three matching symbols connect left to right starting from the leftmost reel, supporting a theoretical return to player of 95.73%.
The action in Tricks and Treats runs on a 5-reel, 4-columned layout featuring 25 paylines. The symbols lean into the seasonal theme, with low-pay J-A royals wearing tiny witch hats. Higher-value icons include a candle, a spider on a cupcake, a ghost, and a grumpy-looking cat in a witch hat. A five-of-a-kind line pays 0.4 to 1.2 times the stake for royals, or 2 to 10 times the stake for the premium symbols.
Tricks and Treats: Slot Features

If you’ve got this far without feeling spooked, get ready for the more interesting parts. This is where the Treat and Trick mechanics come into play, along with a triggered run of Halloween Spins.
Treat
Treat symbols act as special scatters that pay instant cash prizes when they land of 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, or 25x the total bet. Treat symbols don’t contribute to winning lines, and as many as 4 can appear after a spin.
Trick
Trick symbols are another type of special scatter symbols. When they land, they turn into wilds, and at times they also reveal multipliers of up to x3. These multipliers apply to every win on that spin—both line wins and Treat prizes. If multiple Trick multipliers land on the screen, their values are added up before being applied to any winnings. As with Treats, up to 4 Trick symbols can land after a spin.
Halloween Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Halloween Spins scatters simultaneously triggers 10, 12, or 15 free Halloween Spins, respectively. While Halloween Spins are running, Halloween Spins scatters do not appear on the reels, meaning the feature cannot be triggered. However, if Trick symbols land during free spins and reveal multipliers, those values are accumulated until the bonus ends. The maximum multiplier available in Halloween Spins is capped at x15. Once free spins finish, the multiplier resets.

Tricks and Treats: Slot Verdict
So, if Tricks and Treats came knocking, would you hand over the candy, or shut the door and risk your front garden getting wrapped in toilet paper? For us, Tricks and Treats wasn’t a standout, so we’d probably choose the second option and keep the sweets for something a little more memorable. On the bright side, the atmosphere is suitably Halloween-ish; Red Tiger has filled the screen with ‘spooky’ spectres, mischievous pumpkins, and plenty of other seasonal details to create a playful setting.
The gameplay fits the theme as well, though it feels aimed at players who aren’t too concerned with huge potential or wild feature depth. Sure, the Trick and Treat symbol mechanics can be a bit eerie at times, but there’s only so much they can ultimately deliver. Things can loosen up somewhat in free spins thanks to the progressive multiplier (to a point), yet even at maximum intensity, with everything thrown into the cauldron, the best Tricks and Treats can produce is 1,696.8x the bet. That number aligns with what the game seems to be going for—not ruling the Halloween slot space, but offering a tongue-in-cheek take on ‘horror’, closer to the Scary Movie style – ‘Wazzup’.
In the end, Tricks and Treats comes across as an offbeat title that provides a few entertaining moments without pushing far beyond that. If you’re craving a lightly fun Halloween experience, you may well get it from Tricks and Treats. The right player in the right mood can enjoy it—just don’t expect to metaphorically clear out the town’s entire candy supply along the way.
