Saxon: Overview

Developer Play’n GO adds another title to its branded rock lineup with a slot inspired by English metal veterans Saxon. Along with straightforward play, you can crank up several Saxon tracks while spinning for stacked symbols, win multipliers, and free spins.

Formed in the late 1970s, Saxon helped establish the leading edge of the new wave of British heavy metal. The group is still active, and the current line up even includes a couple of original members. Saxon: Verdict

The gameplay may feel a bit old-school, but that works here—just like the band, which is still going strong. If you like clean, no-frills slot action, Saxon is easy to recommend. Those qualities are also common across many entries in the Play’n GO rock range.

The main hurdle is simply whether you care about the band itself. If you’re ready to rock, though, you’ll get reliably solid gameplay supported by tight math models. Saxon follows that formula. It looks sharp, brings plenty of attitude, and delivers where it matters. The band fits the reels naturally, and fans will be happy to see Biff looking just as badass as ever on a Harley.

Stacked symbols and multipliers keep the base game lively, while unlimited free spins are the cherry on top. Or the lemon after the tequila shot, if you prefer. Saxon may not be the most ferocious entry in Play’n GO’s music range—that title goes to Testament, which smashed it on almost every front.

Saxon is the simpler game, but it can still be seriously head-bang worthy. That also applies to its potential, with wins up to 10,000 times the bet, placing Saxon toward the higher end of Play’n GO’s payout spectrum.

Overall, Saxon hits a high visual standard, is easy to look at, and is supported by familiar but fun features. While it’s naturally best suited to fans of the band, the Saxon slot still has enough going for it to entertain players who aren’t quite as taken with dinosaur rock.
