Rise of Olympus Origins: Slot Overview
Anyone who’s followed Play’n GO for a while can probably trace where Rise of Olympus Origins really comes from. Think back to the anime-styled Moon Princess, and the lineage becomes pretty clear. Rise of Olympus arrived first, later evolving into Rise of Olympus 100, and now this latest version. Put simply, Rise of Olympus felt like the “bigger, tougher, more macho” take on Moon Princess, swapping in musclebound heroes while keeping familiar gameplay ideas. Those earlier releases were solid, and with a few fresh tweaks, Rise of Olympus Origins looks set to deliver the goods again.
In the same way Moon Princess featured three princesses, each tied to a specific feature, Rise of Olympus Origins introduces three gods of its own. Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus step in as the trio—three legendary brothers from ancient myth. They look suitably imposing here too, as if none of them ever miss a workout. Visually, the series hasn’t shifted dramatically over time, but that’s not really a drawback.

The action plays out on a gold-framed 5×5 grid, with 25 symbols landing on every spin, and one of the main aims being to wipe the grid clean. Bets range from 10 c to $/€100, while the top RTP is listed at 96.2%, with other lower setups also available. Rise of Olympus Origins runs on a highly volatile math model, backed up by strong win potential.
Symbols fall into two groups: relics and Gods. Relics are the lower-value set—lightning, a trident, and a helmet—paying 2.5x the bet for a 5 OAK line. The Gods are Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus, paying 10x the bet for 5 OAK or 5x the bet for combinations of the 3 Gods.
Rise of Olympus Origins: Slot Features

Rise of Olympus Origins is a cluster-pay cascading title where wins land by forming 3 or more identical symbols in a row, horizontally or vertically, beginning from any spot on the grid. A symbol can contribute to multiple winning clusters. Winning symbols are removed, then the remaining symbols fall down to fill gaps, which can create additional wins. New symbols are not added from above. A wild symbol appears in a centre position whenever a winning combination of relic symbols is cleared from the reels.
Wilds
Wilds replace any symbol and only appear on the grid by being created from wins or added by features. They show up in a middle position when a winning combination of 3, 4, or 5 relic symbols is removed. A complete row of 5 wilds pays 20x the bet.
Hand of God
The Hand of God feature may trigger on God symbol wins. The probability of triggering is 50% with 3 OAK, 75% with 4 OAK, or 100% for 5 OAK. The win must be matching symbols, not mixed combinations. The chance rises to 100% when the same God symbol wins for a second time. This boosted probability stays active until that matching God triggers, Wrath of God triggers, free spins trigger, an instant prize is won, or the round ends.
Based on the type of the God symbol win, a specific modifier is applied to help push the round toward a win:
- Hades changes one group of symbols into another symbol.
- Poseidon places 1 or 2 wilds onto the grid.
- Zeus clears 2 groups of symbols from the reels.
The Hand of God power can be boosted by filling the empowerment indicator by relic symbol wins. Landing more than 5 of the same relic symbols empowers the corresponding God as follows: Helmet – Hades, Trident – Poseidon, Lightning – Zeus. Empowerment lasts until the matching God is triggered, Wrath of God triggers, free spins trigger, an instant prize is won, or the round ends. When empowered:
- Hades converts 2 or 3 groups of symbols into another symbol.
- Poseidon adds 2, 3, or 4 wilds to the grid.
- Zeus removes 2 or 3 groups of symbols from the reels.
Wrath of Olympus Feature
Completing the charge meter activates the Wrath of Olympus feature. The meter fills through wins, including wins with all 3 God symbols. The wild may stand in for one God. The meter contains 6 segments: 5-of-a-kind fills 5 segments, 4-of-a-kind fills 4 segments, and 3-of-a-kind fills 3 segments. Once the meter is full and no further wins happen, 1 respin is granted. A Hand of God feature triggers on each symbol drop that fails to create a win, continuing until every God has used their power. There are three actions total, in this order – Hades – Zeus, and Poseidon. In addition to these Hand of God activations, God symbol wins can also set off extra Hand of God features during the respin. Completely clearing the grid triggers free spins, though no instant prize is awarded.
Free Spins
You receive 10 free spins for clearing the grid. Clearing the grid during free spins awards instant prize chests. There are three chests in total. The first chest from Hades offers 5x to 150x, the second chest from Poseidon offers 75x to 1,000x, and the third chest from Zeus offers 1,000x to 10,000x. When the chest is opened, one prize is awarded from each chest. Extra spins are granted by filling the meter.

Rise of Olympus Origins: Slot Verdict
Sometimes it’s hard not to be a bit cynical. When another Rise of Olympus entry showed up, it was easy to think “here we go again,” expecting yet another Moon Princess rework. That slightly weary response isn’t totally unfair, since Play’n GO has reused the Moon Princess framework in multiple variations by now—enough that some players may feel the concept is getting stretched thin. Still, Rise of Olympus Origins turns out to be a strong release, bringing feature refinements, bigger win potential, and more of the cascading, wild-generating, grid-clearing gameplay that’s kept players entertained (or on edge) ever since the original made its mark years ago.
Worth stating plainly: Rise of Olympus Origins sits toward the high end of payouts for this style of game, with a maximum win of 20,000x the bet. It seems likely the top Zeus chest reward will be the key to reaching that ceiling, which demands plenty of fortune and repeated grid clears to pull off (if it’s even realistically attainable—given how little weight PnG’s max-win claims tend to carry). That said, the push to clear the grid was a gripping hook back when Moon Princess first set the challenge, and it remains just as engaging here—especially when wins chain together, the Gods fire off their Hand of God effects, and the meter keeps building. If players manage to clear the grid during free spins, the appearance of the three chest prizes should add one last surge of tension.
Moon Princess and its spin-offs keep returning—sometimes with new faces (Moon Princess Power of Love), sometimes in new backdrops (Sisters of the Sun), and sometimes in the Olympus “God mode” style. Rise of Olympus Origins probably won’t convince anyone who believes Play’n GO is running low on fresh ideas, but it is enjoyable—though reaching the most exciting moments may take a healthy amount of patience (and luck).
