Rainbow Princess: Slot Overview
Anime-themed slots are still a fairly small corner of the market, but it’s one that’s steadily expanding. Play’n GO’s Moon Princess series is arguably the standout success in this style, while other studios—like Pragmatic Play with Starlight Princess 1000—have also helped push it forward. Software provider Hacksaw Gaming has joined in too with Aiko and the Wild Spirit, and the studio has quickly followed it up with Rainbow Princess, an anime-inspired cluster pays slot whose ideas aren’t exact replicas, though they may feel a little familiar.
While Aiko and the Wind Spirit had a more distinctive character of its own, Rainbow Princess leans harder into the classic anime slot aesthetic. A dreamy, long-legged princess (why does it always seem to be princesses?) hovers beside the grid in a soft, cloud-filled fantasy setting. Players who enjoy anime might like the extra lore for atmosphere, describing the Rainbow Princess as ‘Born from stardust and empowered by gems’ who travels ‘between realms with a crown charged by ancient forces and a heart set on a radiant path.’ In other words, you don’t have to be an anime devotee to enjoy Rainbow Princess—but it certainly won’t hurt.

Rainbow Princess is a medium volatile slot running on a 6×5 grid. Stakes range from 10 c to $/€100 per round, and—true to form—Hacksaw Gaming has included a selection of feature buys. The top theoretical RTP is 96.36%, although lower RTP versions may apply depending on the jurisdiction.
Clusters pay when 5 or more matching pay symbols connect horizontally or vertically. There are 10 pay symbols, paying 0.1x to 1.5x for 5 OAK or 8x to 100x for a 15+ OAK cluster. The super cascade feature removes all standard paying symbols of the winning type from the grid, letting new symbols fall into the gaps—continuing until no further cluster forms. Supporting the action, the wild symbol substitutes for all regular paying symbols.
Rainbow Princess: Slot Features

In Rainbow Princess, Magic Frame Multipliers boost payouts and can appear in the base game as well as across the three bonus rounds, with two of those bonuses available via the feature buy.
Magic Frame Multipliers
Magic Frame Multipliers can be placed on random positions during a spin or cascade, as long as there is at least one winning cluster on the grid. Each Magic Frame Multiplier shows an adding multiplier of x2 to x100, which activates if that position is included in a winning cluster. Once triggered, the Magic Frame Multiplier is applied to the cluster it belongs to. If multiple Magic Frame Multipliers contribute to the same win, the Multipliers are added together, and the combined value is applied to the payout.
During cascades, all Magic Frame Multipliers remain in the same position, and their values double every time they are part of a new win after the win has been awarded. The updated value is then used on the next win that the Magic Frame Multipliers participates in during that spin. When the cascades finish, all Magic Frame Multipliers are removed before the next spin begins.
Aurora Gems
Aurora Gems can appear during cascades and activate before any wins are paid. When triggered, an Aurora Gem will multiply all Magic Frame Multipliers currently on the grid by x2 to x10. Only one Aurora Gem can land at once, and it disappears after applying its Multiplier.
Tiara Treasure Bonus Game
10 Tiara Treasure free spins are triggered by landing 3 FS scatters in the base game. Alongside the base-game mechanics, this round introduces Sticky Progressive Magic Frame Multipliers. All Magic Frame Multipliers remain in the same position and keep their current values, which can be increased through wins or Aurora Gems. In Tiara Treasure and Make it Rainbow, landing 2 or 3 FS scatters grants an extra +2 or +4 free spins.
Make It Rainbow Bonus Game
Make it Rainbow awards 10 free spins when 4 FS scatters land in the base game. It uses the Tiara Treasure mechanics, plus a Rainbow Rush Bar shown outside the reels. Each winning cluster increases the Rainbow Rush Bar based on the number of winning symbols. Once the bar is filled, it adds 3 to 5 wild symbols to the grid, then resets so the build-up can begin again.
Throne of Starlight Hidden Epic Bonus Game
Landing 5 FS scatters in the base game activates 10 Throne of Starlight free spins. This feature follows the same core rules as Tiara Treasure, but each position starts with a Sticky Progressive Magic Frame Multiplier with a minimum value of x4. FS symbols do not appear during this bonus.
Feature Buy
The feature buy allows players to trigger BonusHunt FeatureSpins for 2x the bet, making each spin 3 times more likely to activate a bonus game. Magic Mode FeatureSpins are priced at 50x, and each spin guarantees at least one 1 win and 5 Magic Frame Multipliers. Two bonus rounds are also purchasable—Tiara Treasure for 75x or Make it Rainbow for 200x the bet.

Rainbow Princess: Slot Verdict
Rainbow Princess would likely have felt more unexpected if Hacksaw Gaming hadn’t released Aiko and the Wind Spirit so recently. As it stands, it looks less like a one-off experiment and more like the studio is expanding its interest in the anime/anime-adjacent space—perhaps even heading toward something bigger. That said, we’re only two games in, and Rainbow Princess could still end up being the final stop in this particular detour, so time will tell. Between the pair, Rainbow Princess is the more overtly anime-styled title, with clear visual similarities to games like Moon Princess and Starlight Princess. From a gameplay perspective, though, it more strongly recalled another Pragmatic Play release: the popular candy slot Sugar Rush.
Rainbow Princess and Sugar Rush are both cluster pays slots that layer multipliers onto individual grid positions, with those values doubling after wins. The way Magic Frame Multipliers appear is notably different, however. As a quick reminder, in Sugar Rush, eligible positions are marked whenever the tumble mechanic clears winning symbols. With Magic Frame Multipliers, the process is more unpredictable, since they may be added to arbitrary grid spots whenever a win occurs. Another key difference is that Magic Frame Multipliers can start at varying values up to x100 rather than the fixed x2 seen in Sugar Rush, and the Aurora Gem can boost them even further. The bonus rounds share a similar feel because Magic Frame Multiplier values persist through the feature, though the non-Tiara Treasure rounds get an extra edge thanks to either the wild-dropping Rainbow Rush Bar or having Magic Frame Multipliers across all positions from the outset.
So while Rainbow Princess isn’t as chaotic as Nolimit City’s loosely comparable Duck Hunters, it does bring enough twists to appeal to fans of Sugar Rush-style mechanics. With a 10,000x max win and some engaging feature progression, Rainbow Princess looks well-equipped to entertain cluster pays players—though some may still be curious about this fresh direction from Hacksaw Gaming.
