Peaky Blinders: Overview
Players, this is a notable iGaming moment – the very first branded slot released by developer Pragmatic Play. For their debut license, the studio went with the gritty British TV series Peaky Blinders, and it’s a smart pick. The show is hugely popular and carries a hard-edged gangster vibe that should fit the reels nicely. Add in a few Peaky Blinders gambling nods and it feels like you’re already halfway to success. Let’s find out.
If you haven’t watched it, Peaky Blinders is a period drama set in Birmingham between the two World Wars. It tracks the driven Shelby crime family as they’ll do whatever it takes to build wealth and influence. Think West Midlands mafia with iconic headwear—setting aside the razors stitched into those caps, of course.
The slot itself sticks to a more familiar blueprint. Pragmatic Play places the 5-reel, 20-payline layout on a bleak back street, full of grey buildings and drifting smoke. Music from the show runs underneath, helping create an authentic Peaky feel. Visually, it’s hard not to think Pragmatic looked to branded-slot veterans like Microgaming when shaping their first licensed title.
Peaky Blinders can be played from 20 p/c to $/€100 per spin, works smoothly on any device, and comes with a solid default RTP of 96.5%. This time, Pragmatic skips the usual lightning-bolt volatility gauge. Instead, they use horseshoes, showing 4/5, which lands in the medium+ to high range.
Familiar faces from the series fill the paytable as the premium symbols. From lower to higher, you’ll see Michael Gray, Polly Gray, Arthur Shelby, and the tough Thomas Shelby in his trademark hat. A full payline of these premiums pays 5x to 20x the stake. Completing the paytable are five low-paying 10 –A symbols, styled with a heavy metallic look. Lastly, there’s the wild, paying up to 20x for five-of-a-kind. The wild appears on all reels and substitutes for any regular pay symbol to complete combinations.
Peaky Blinders: Features

Unlike the ruthless crew it represents, Peaky the slot keeps things fairly restrained on the feature front. There are a couple of straightforward base-game bonuses to watch for, along with triggered free spins rounds.
Two scatters can appear on the last reel – the Shelby Betting Shop scatter and the By Order of the Peaker Blinders scatter. When one lands with no other bonus symbol visible, it triggers the bonus that shares its name.
When the Shelby Betting Shop bonus activates, a cash value is assigned to all high-paying character symbols currently on the screen. Those values are then totalled and paid out.
If the By Order of the Peaky Blinders feature triggers, any winning lines on the screen are paid first. After that, a respin takes place where all character symbols or wilds in view change into the same matching symbol for an extra payout.
There is also a logo bonus symbol that lands on reels 1 and 3. If two of these symbols appear together at the same time as one of the scatters mentioned above, free spins are awarded.
The free spins rounds play much like the base game, with the main difference being added scatters. Shelby Betting Shop Free Spins gives 8 free spins and adds extra Shelby Betting Shop scatters to reel five. By Order of the Peaky Blinders Free Spins awards 10 free spins and adds additional By Order of the Peaker Blinders scatters to reel five. Neither free spins feature can be retriggered.
Peaky Blinders: Verdict
Pragmatic Play gets several key ingredients of a strong branded slot right, but the finished game feels thin in other respects. For starters, the studio clearly chose the safer route—maybe a little too safe. Peaky Blinders follows a traditional setup and doesn’t lean heavily into flashy effects. On the other hand, when you’re paying for a license, it makes sense not to risk putting off the core fanbase.
Pragmatic also makes a point of weaving in plenty of show references so there’s no doubt what you’re playing. Fans should appreciate how much recognizable imagery has been packed in, and at a glance, the game does enough to make the license feel justified.
To their credit, Pragmatic captures the atmosphere of interwar Britain convincingly. There’s a grimy, seedy edge throughout, giving off a clear “ends justify the means” tone. It’s easy to picture an older Shelby relative in a gentleman’s club, sipping costly whisky and smoking cigars while trying to forget the brutal deeds that got them there. Still, after digging into the game, it’s difficult to avoid the conclusion that while Peaky Blinders may suit die-hard fans, many other players will find little to latch onto.
As a slot, Peaky Blinders doesn’t bring much that feels fresh or especially thrilling. The novelty of seeing familiar characters fades quickly, and there isn’t a lot underneath to keep momentum. Features appear fairly often—more frequently than in many other Pragmatic slots—but they don’t seem to deliver much impact. Much of the experience feels like treading water, going nowhere fast. It may work for some casual spins, but it’s unlikely to offer more than that. For the record, the max potential is 2,022 times the stake – not exactly the kind of prize the Shelby’s would crush their rivals for.
In the end, Peaker Blinders is really aimed at fans, full stop. If you enjoyed the series, it’s worth giving the slot a run. Beyond a bit of character-spotting, though, don’t expect a great deal more.
