With so many Western slots already available, any studio taking on the theme needs to raise the bar if it wants to be noticed. Oddly, it feels like Gold Coin Studios went the other way and released something that comes across as undercooked, or perhaps it was aiming for a bold new direction that we simply didn’t connect with. Either way, Outlaw Saloon does end up being memorable, just not in the way its creator likely intended.

On a purely surface level, Outlaw Saloon’s visuals are hard to ignore. Taste is subjective, of course, but Outlaw Saloon simply isn’t easy on the eyes. Maybe a decade ago (or longer) this style might have passed; today it feels behind the times. For players familiar with games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or slots such as Deadwood, Outlaw Saloon looks seriously dated. The soundtrack is fairly strong, though it would take an impressive level of ineptitude to ruin a Wild West melody.

Outlaw Saloon doesn’t quite fall into outright inept territory, but it occasionally makes you question its intentions. With no cascading mechanic, the randomness of the Sheriff Badge collection system can be a little baffling. When free spins first activated, it felt less like a structured bonus and more like a string of unpredictable events. In simple terms, it’s a blend of respins, sticky symbols, back-to-back hits, or something in that general vein. It’s so loose and arbitrary that you may be better off just letting Outlaw Saloon run its course rather than trying to follow every moving part.
