Heart, Star, and Circle make up the low-paying symbols, while Love, Star, and Storm are the higher-value ones. Wins of 3, 4, or 5 OAK fill 3, 4, or 5 sections of the meter, respectively. Trinity grants 1 respin when a spin produces no further wins. While Trinity is active, a Girl Power is performed on each symbol drop that doesn’t create a winning combination until all 3 Princesses have used their abilities. Play’n GO’s theme work may have been fairly restrained when putting Moon Princess Origins together, but the mechanics feel like they received more attention. So, while the game looks fine and doesn’t offer much that’s visually new, and the “Origins” angle is thin, Moon Princess Origins still tempts players with the goal of clearing the grid. Board clears were already central in earlier Moon Princess titles, paying out cash rewards or free spins, and the way those games were built—through cascades, added wilds, and Girl Powers—made clearing the grid sometimes frustrating, sometimes an enjoyable test, and very rewarding when it finally happened.

Moon Princess Origins delivers that same chase, only now the cash prizes can be huge, reaching 10,000x in the best-case outcome. With studios like Push Gaming helping popularize instant prize symbols, they’re now a familiar mechanic, and even if they aren’t your favorite, they suit Moon Princess Origins because the series already rewarded full clears. Win multipliers are missing, which is unexpected, but the new orb element gives Moon Princess Origins the highest potential in the series, with a 20,000 times the stake max win.

“A bit of the old and a bit of the new” is a fair way to describe Moon Princess Origins, and it’s notable how Play’n GO has managed to adjust the Moon Princess blueprint multiple times. This time around, though, the outcome feels more uneven. Some tweaks do add freshness, but the overall package doesn’t fully meet expectations. The visuals and narrative feel flat, and while the gameplay can shine, it doesn’t capture the same spark the original had when it first arrived. And as many players likely know by now, Play’n GO’s stated potential isn’t something to lean on too heavily, so the advertised max win can come across as more theoretical than truly attainable. In the end, Moon Princess Origins is a decent slot, but it doesn’t quite reach “must-play” territory.
