Might of Ra: Slot Overview
As the sun god with dominion over the heavens, the underworld, and the earth, Ra was unquestionably powerful. That same aura carries into iGaming too, helped along by the never-ending fascination developers and players have with Ancient Egypt. Pragmatic Play adds another entry to the pile with Might of Ra—a slot that delivers some genuinely strong elements, alongside a few that are less impressive.
One area where Might of Ra immediately stands out is its visuals. Pragmatic Play has toned down the cartoon style and leaned into a more realistic look—or at least a sharper, more high-definition approach. Rather than filling the reels with the usual Egyptian relics, the game opts for a selection of wild animals. Meanwhile, Ra himself appears on the side of the screen looking seriously chiselled, gripping his staff with a floating Ankh nearby, as if he’s never missed a workout. The overall glossy Ancient Egypt vibe feels closer to The Mummy—the Brendon Fraser one, not the Tom Cruise version—which should suit fans of that style.
Might of Ra runs smoothly across devices and offers stakes of 20 p/c to $/€100 per spin. The action takes place on a 6-reel, 4-row layout, using 50 fixed paylines to form wins with 3 to 6 matching symbols across. Gameplay is highly volatile, and the maximum return comes in at 96.49%. The upside is notably bigger than what Pragmatic Play often provides, driven by a small set of straightforward but useful features.
All symbols pay left to right on adjacent reels starting from reel one, and there are nine standard symbols in total. These range from 10-A royals paying 2.5-5 times the stake for six of a kind, up to premium icons—scorpions, birds, horses, and cobras—paying 7.5 to 15 times the bet for a six-symbol line.
Might of Ra: Slot Features
There isn’t a long list of mechanics here, as Might of Ra keeps the feature set simple. The key symbol—arguably the most important in the game—is the Ra wild symbol. It can land on every reel and substitutes for all symbols except the scatter. Whenever a wild symbol hits, it has a chance to randomly transform into a full reel wild, and an x3 multiplier is applied to any win it helps create. Wilds can also connect with each other, paying up to 25 times the stake for five in a row.
The second special icon is the bonus symbol, which appears on reels 2, 3, 4, or 5. Landing 3 or 4 triggers a 2x or 5x bet payout, along with 15 free spins. During free spins, an additional Ankh symbol is introduced. Every Ankh that lands is collected, with progress shown on a meter beside the reels. Gathering enough Ankhs increases the level as follows:
- Level 1 – free spins begin at this level with 54 wild symbols on the reel strips.
- Level 2 – achieved by collecting 5 Ankhs and 12 extra wild symbols are added to the reel strips.
- Level 3 – achieved by collecting 10 Ankhs and 12 extra wild symbols are added to the reel strips.
- Level 4 – achieved by collecting 15+ Ankhs and 24 extra wild symbols are added to the reel strips.
The feature can be retriggered by landing 2, 3, or 4 bonus symbols, awarding an extra 3, 6, or 9 free spins, respectively.
Might of Ra: Slot Verdict
Mighty in title, and reasonably mighty in practice. If you like an Egyptian-themed slot that’s presented a little differently, sticks to straightforward rules, and feels closer to a traditional machine, then Might of Ra is worth adding to the list. It focuses on doing a few things properly, making it a good fit for players who don’t want gimmicks and would rather spin in search of expanding multiplier wilds. Beyond that, the game doesn’t throw much else into the mix. The payline structure can feel limiting at times compared to what studios like Thunderkick, for instance, do with the same reel/row format, though it does align with the overall no-nonsense approach here.
That said, full reel multiplier wilds combined with all ways pays would have added extra punch. Alternatively, stronger symbol values would have helped too, as the current payouts are fairly average. Still, this configuration hasn’t held back the potential, which tops out at 22,500x the bet. That’s clearly higher than the caps Pragmatic Play was using on other releases from around the same period, so interpret that however you like.
If the big moments arrive, they’ll most likely come during free spins, where the Ankh collection system introduces additional wilds into play. Feelings may vary on how well this works. In some test sessions, the wild count didn’t seem to shift dramatically regardless of the level reached. That’s not disputing the stated mechanic—just an observation. Also, filling reel space with Ankhs can reduce the odds of connecting winning lines. It might have been just as effective (though less interactive) if the game simply increased wild frequency in free spins without using a levelling structure. On the other hand, the collection mechanic does give the slot a bit of purpose that it might otherwise lack.
Overall, if you’re after a polished, uncomplicated Egypt slot that still has a serious win ceiling, Might of Ra is worth checking out. It’s enjoyable enough for the right audience, and it offers a change from Book of Ra-style play while keeping the theme and expanding-symbol excitement.
