Masters of Olympus: Slot Overview
Nordic developer Snowborn Games previously took on Valhalla (with varying degrees of success, depending on who you ask) and now shifts focus from Norse legends to Ancient Greek Mythology. That means the sequel to Masters of Valhalla arrives as Masters of Olympus, an online slot that keeps a lot of what worked before while tweaking a couple of elements. Technically, much remains familiar: Zeus Respins with expanding wilds, a Spartan Booster, and a hold ‘n win bonus round packed with special symbols appearing throughout.
Masters of Olympus opens with the action set high on Olympus. Pastel mountain peaks sit to the right, while Zeus stands on the left, lightning bolt in hand, beside a Greco-inspired building. Snowborn Games sticks with the same cartoon-like presentation seen in Masters of Valhalla, giving Masters of Olympus a similarly light, playful feel. Despite that softer look, the game puts up some strong figures, so even if it doesn’t appear like a gritty Mythology slot, its mechanics and numbers have plenty of muscle.

Looking at the numbers, one key point is Masters of Olympus’ selection of RTP settings. There are four versions, with the top one at 96.01%, so it’s worth checking the paytable before you start spinning. Built for fans of volatile gaming, it offers a bet range of 10 p/c to $/€25 per spin. In the base game, Masters of Olympus runs on a grid of 5 columns by 4 symbols, delivering 1,024 ways to win.
Wins are formed by landing three to five matching symbols starting from the leftmost reel across consecutive reels. Landing five of the card suit symbols—diamonds, clubs, spades, or hearts—pays 1.1 to 1.2 times the stake. A five-of-a-kind premium hit returns 2 to 3 times the bet when it’s Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, or Athena. Wild symbols feature lightning bolts and substitute for every symbol except the bonus, helping to complete winning ways.
Masters of Olympus: Slot Features

Whenever wild symbols land, they are collected, giving you a chance to activate the Zeus Respins feature. Once triggered, any wilds on the reels expand the full reel down, and a respin is awarded. With each subsequent respin, the wild shifts one position on the grid. If additional wild symbols appear during the feature, they expand too. The feature finishes once there are no wild symbols left in view.
Zeus Respins – Coin Collection
Coin symbols that land during the feature are collected in a meter. Gathering 3 coin symbols during the feature triggers the Olympus Bonus. However, if the Spartan Booster is full, the Spartan Bonus is awarded instead.
Bonus Symbol
There’s also another route into the bonus: land 3 bonus symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5. This likewise triggers the Olympus Bonus, or the Spartan Bonus if the Spartan Booster has already been completed.
Spartan Booster
Bonus symbols appearing on reels 1 and 3 are collected by the Spartan Booster. Once it’s filled, the next time the bonus is triggered, you’ll receive the Spartan Bonus instead of the Olympus Bonus. The key difference is simple: the Olympus round starts with 3 respins, while the Spartan version begins with 4 respins.
Olympus Bonus/Spartan Bonus
This is a hold ‘n win style bonus in which the starting number of respins is refreshed whenever a new symbol lands. The possible symbols are:
- Silver shield – possess a bet multiplier of 1-9x the bet.
- Gold shield – possess a bet multiplier of 10-50x the bet.
- Poseidon – has a multiplier value and also unlocks one of the two locked rows. Any symbols on unlocked rows are activated.
- Aphrodite – lands with a multiplier value which is used to multiply all symbols landing on that spin plus any following spin.
- Ares – lands with a multiplier value and collects the values of all symbols once on the spin it hits.
- Athena – lands with a multiplier value and collects the value of all symbols on the reels on that spin and each following spin.
- Zeus – lands with a multiplier value which gets added to all other symbols on the grid on that spin and each following spin.
- Apollo – lands with a multiplier value which is added to all other symbols on the grid once on the spin it hits.
- Hades – lands with a multiplier value and re-activates all Ares and Apollo symbols that landed on previous spins.
- Hot Spots – these randomly appear to indicate a higher chance of landing a non-silver or gold symbol.
Buy Bonus
Where the bonus buy option is available in your jurisdiction, selecting it allows you to choose from three choices: 50x the bet for the Olympus Bonus, 100x the bet for the Spartan Bonus, or 250x the bet for the Spartan Bonus with an Athena symbol already on the grid from the first spin.

Masters of Olympus: Slot Verdict
Masters of Olympus delivered a play experience that matched Masters of Valhalla, and for players who like purchasing the most upgraded bonus round possible, it may even edge ahead. The Guaranteed Athena bonus buy is a new addition versus the earlier title, and it was genuinely enjoyable to test during the review. Masters of Valhalla felt reminiscent of Money Train 2, while Master of Olympus comes across as closer in spirit to Money Train 3, with the Guaranteed Athena echoing—at least in part—MT3’s 500x bonus buy with the Persistent Symbol added.
Neither option is cheap, but they can be seriously entertaining when they hit. Masters of Olympus never reached the same level of chaos the train games can deliver. It felt outshone by MT2 and absolutely crushed by the sequel MT3. That comparison may be a little unfair—maybe even overly harsh—since Snowborn Games’ slots seem aimed at a different type of gambling audience than Relax Gaming’s, but it’s difficult to avoid when assessing a game like this. On a personal note, Masters of Olympus didn’t come across as quite as punishing or as volatile; it even felt a touch more forgiving than the Relax Gaming blockbuster, which could suit players who don’t want to feel like they’ve been flattened by a runaway freight train over and over when things go south. When it does go your way, Masters of Olympus matches its predecessor’s maximum payout, topping out at 20,000 times the bet.
As with the previous entry, Masters of Olympus doesn’t feel like it’s trying to reinvent the hold ‘n win space or show off extreme novelty, but it remains as dependable as before and should still excite the right player who enjoys this style of gameplay.
