Heart of Cleopatra: Slot Overview
If there are two things developer Pragmatic Play seems to enjoy leaning on, it’s marked spots and Ancient Egypt—and those two ideas collide in the online slot Heart of Cleopatra. Marked spots were a standout in Sugar Rush and its bigger sibling Sugar Rush 1000, so it was easy to assume they’d translate well here too. The nice twist is that Pragmatic Play has adjusted the mechanic: rather than doubling multipliers that affect the wins above them, the multipliers are instead applied to random cash prize values. It’ll click quickly once you step into this Ancient Egyptian adventure.
Heart of Cleopatra is a cluster pays title played on a large 7×7 sized gaming grid, set beside golden bird statues and framed with gold accents. The reels sit inside a torch-and-brazier-lit chamber, with coin-strewn floors and plenty of statues and hieroglyphs in the background. Cleopatra herself isn’t used much beyond what appears to be the wild symbol, and the theme doesn’t really break new ground. Visually, it’s solid for this type of slot; that’s the main takeaway.

Checking the numbers, the game runs on a math model classed as highly volatile and has a default RTP of 96.48%, with stakes ranging from 20 c to $/€240 per spin. If you choose to buy free spins, the RTP nudges up to 96.5%. As always, these are the standard settings, so it’s worth watching out for potentially lower RTP versions.
Once winning clusters are paid, the symbols involved disappear, leaving gaps in the grid. New symbols then fall into place, which can trigger another win. These tumbles continue until no further wins land. A winning cluster forms when 5 or more identical symbols land connected via horizontal or vertical adjacency. There are 7 standard pay symbols showing items like winged Ankhs, lotus flowers, the Eye of Horus, a jackal, a cat, a bird, and a scarab. A 5-symbol cluster returns 0.2 to 1 times the bet, while a 15+ symbol cluster awards 20 to 150 times the stake. The wild symbol substitutes for everything except scatters.
Heart of Cleopatra: Slot Features

Marked positions are the core mechanic in Heart of Cleopatra, ultimately creating multipliers that boost the money values assigned to them. Marked spots can show up in both the base game and during free spins, and the free spins feature is also available as a buy option.
Money Spots Feature
Whenever a cluster containing at least 1 wild symbol explodes, a random number of spots inside that cluster become marked with Money Spots. Money Spots start with a multiplier of x1 and x2 for the spot where the wild symbols explode. Each time another cluster explodes over them, they double the multiplier up to a maximum of x1,024. Once the tumble sequence ends, every marked Money Spot receives a random money value of 0.1x to 10x, which is then multiplied by the multiplier shown on that spot. In the base game, all Money Spots reset before the next spin.
Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 scatter symbols triggers 10, 12, 15, 20, or 30 free spins, respectively. In the free spins feature, Money Spots and their multipliers remain in place till the feature ends and can grow further through additional tumbles. Hitting 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 scatters again adds another 10, 12, 15, 20, or 30 free spins. When the round finishes, each marked Money Spot is given a random money value, which is multiplied by the multiplier on that spot.
Buy Free Spins
You can purchase the free spins feature directly from the base game for 100 times the bet, resulting in a trigger spin that lands 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 scatters.

Heart of Cleopatra: Slot Verdict
The adjustments Pragmatic Play has made to the marked spots concept do enough to set Heart of Cleopatra apart from both Sugar Rush titles. Of course, “different” can land in any direction—better, worse, or simply similar. In practice, Heart of Cleopatra didn’t feel as instantly fun as Sugar Rush, and there were a few reasons for that. One is a slightly picky complaint: it’s tougher to tell at a glance which positions are actually marked. Sure, when tumbles are rolling or free spins are active, the multipliers are visible, but they’re not as easy to track as the clearly highlighted yellow cells in Sugar Rush.
A bigger issue is that marked-spot multipliers seem to appear far more often in Sugar Rush than they do in Heart of Cleopatra, and in the candy slot every winning cell gets marked, while here only some may. In this game, you need a wild to be part of a win for winning symbols to create a Money Spot, which naturally happens less often than standard winning clusters. On top of that, the cash values that pop onto marked Money Spots at the end of free spins can sometimes feel oddly underwhelming.
That said, filling the grid with multipliers during free spins and gradually ramping up the tension could still be a lot of fun, and the 10,000x the bet win cap suggests Heart of Cleopatra can absolutely pop off. Overall, it’s a strong slot and a clever step forward for the marked spots concept, but it didn’t hook quite as hard as Sugar Rush, with fewer and more spaced-out bursts of excitement and a less satisfying gameplay rhythm than some earlier entries in the same lineage.
