Since it began releasing games, Four Leaf Gaming has moved between familiar and less common themes, from the frozen heights of Everest to the well-worn mine setting of Gold Rush Frenzy Megaways. With Curse of Ra, the fairly average use of a popular theme was one reason it didn’t leave much of an impression. It came across as though the studio mainly wanted an Ancient Egyptian skin to apply to its standard toolkit, including Nitro Spins, the Super Spinner, and the extra gambling options. That feature set isn’t weak at all, and players who enjoy having lots of choices will find plenty to do, but the overall package can start to feel a bit formula-driven over time.

Still, these recurring add-ons must have an audience if Four Leaf Gaming continues to ship slots built around them. On top of that, the elements designed specifically for Curse of Ra could prove worthwhile. The smaller one, the Guaranteed Win reshuffle, can help keep interest up when it appears. Roaming multiplier wilds are usually a welcome mechanic as well – Slotmill’s Tyrant’s Fall is a strong example. Bonus Booster may also appeal here, since more free spins should, in theory, improve the chances of adding extra Flying Wild Scarabs. With a win cap of 10,000x, there’s enough headroom for Flying Scarab Wilds to make a real impact.

Even with those positives, Curse of Ra didn’t deliver a big “wow” moment. One drawback was that it didn’t feel like a theme the developer was especially invested in. Some slots give the sense their creators fully embraced the subject and used it for a fun, deeper exploration; here, Flying Scarab Wilds felt more like a light pass over the idea, as if Four Leaf Gaming simply wrapped an Ancient Egyptian layer around its usual set of mechanics. That may not be the case, but it was the impression the review left.
