Buildin’ More Bucks: Slot Overview

If you create an online slot that manages to catch enough players’ interest, the natural next move is to… make a sequel. That’s exactly what software provider Play’n GO has done with Buildin’ More Bucks, which follows the 2024 title Buildin’ Bucks—a likeable, if slightly underpowered, game where cute characters built frames on the grid that later turned into buildings awarding prizes based on the materials used. With Buildin’ More Bucks, Play’n GO has largely recreated that same formula, while increasing the win potential and tweaking a few elements along the way.

Buildin’ More Bucks is partly a leprechaun slot, though it steers away from the usual “Top o’ the morning,” pints of beer, and four-leaf clover routine. Here, the gang is less focused on handing out pots of gold to rainbow-chasers and more interested in hammering together wood, stacking bricks, and working with gold to construct things. Even with that twist, Buildin’ More Bucks remains a bright, Celtic fairy-style slot that aims to win players over again with its friendly cast and inviting setting.

The action takes place on a 5×3 matrix, with wins formed using a 243 ways to win system. Play’n GO has nudged the volatility up slightly, though it still sits in the medium range, and the maximum RTP remains 96.2%. The betting limits are unchanged too, with a minimum stake of $/€0.20 and the highest is $/€100.

Buildin’ More Bucks uses J-A royals, plus a tape measure, paint bucket, and three character symbols—Woody Elf, Grout Bricky, and Fairy Mary. Five-of-a-kind royals return 0.5x-0.75x the bet, while the other symbols pay 1.25x-6x the stake. Wilds can land on any reel and replace all standard paying symbols. A wild 5 OAK combination pays 6x the bet, matching Fairy Mary.

Buildin’ More Bucks: Slot Features

Buildin’ More Bucks slot – respin feature

There isn’t a huge overhaul on the feature side, with the main additions being a now two-tiered Wheel for prizes, character respins, and Magic Spins.

Spin the Wheel

Landing 1 or 2 Hard Hat scatters can randomly trigger the first Wheel. On this first Wheel, players may win Woody Elf Spins, the 10x Mini Prize, the 20x Minor Prize, or an upgrade to the Wheel. Once the Wheel is upgraded, it can award the 50x Major, the 100x Grand, the 500x Ultra, Grout Bricky Spins, or Fairy Mary Spins.

When a character feature activates, the Hard Hat scatters that started the Wheel build frames tied to that character’s power before the reels begin. Any Hard Hat scatters that land then transform into the relevant character frame—Woody Elf wood, Grout Bricky brick, and Fairy Mary gold. Frames can be upgraded once the grid fills with that character’s frames—wood to brick, brick to gold. If the reels are full of gold frames and a Hard Hat lands, 100x is immediately paid. 6 respins are awarded with no chance of a retrigger. Magic Spins cannot be triggered either.

Magic Spins

Landing 3 or more Hard Hat scatters in the base game triggers Magic Spins. Hitting 3 scatters awards 3 initial wooden frames, 4 scatters grant 4 initial brick frames, while 5 scatters award 5 initial gold frames. At the start, 6 Magic Spins are given. These can be retriggered when 3 or more Hard Hat scatters land to spin the Wheel. The values on the Wheel are +1, +3, or +5 spins. Up to 80 Magic Spins can be won.

While the feature is running, each time a Hard Hat scatter lands it drops a wooden frame into that spot. If a Hard Hat lands on a wooden frame, it upgrades into a brick frame. Brick frames become gold frames when a Hard Hat lands on them. If a Hard Hat lands in a gold frame, it moves position to create a new wooden frame or a position to upgrade the lowest type of frame if no empty spaces are available. If reels are full of gold frames and a Hard Hat lands, 100x is immediately paid. When Magic Spins finish, frames transform into houses and reveal an instant prize. Wooden Houses pay 2x-5x, Brick Houses are worth 6x-12.5x, and Gold Castles pay 15x-25x the bet.

Buildin’ More Bucks: Slot Verdict

Buildin’ More Bucks keeps the whimsical feel of Buildin’ Bucks and adds some extra shine and a bit more upside, but it doesn’t truly take the concept much further. Even with “more” in the name, the sequel struggles to shake the feeling that you’ve seen it all before. The visuals are still easy on the eye, with likeable characters and a rich forest setting, yet the core loop is familiar enough that the buzz can fade quickly for anyone who played the original.

The base game gets a modest boost thanks to the Wheel returning with revised behavior and a two-tier format that hints at stronger rewards, while the three character respins and increased prize values slightly improve the figures. Even so, the foundation remains largely the same. Magic Spins, especially, behaves almost exactly like it did previously, and although the 7,500x potential reads better on paper, it’s not hugely meaningful given that PnG slots rarely deliver wins close to those heights.

In the end, Buildin’ More Bucks is a well-made follow-up that focuses on refining rather than reinventing. The construction-meets-fairy-tale angle still gives it some character, but the shortage of fresh ideas makes it feel more like routine upkeep than a major step forward.
