To be fair, the refreshed visuals are decent, and there’s room for a little nostalgia. From a stats perspective, the win potential has been increased to 10,000x the bet, which is twice the original’s 5,000x and matched a full screen of Rich Wildes. Perhaps this time, two full screens of Rich Wildes could land during a bonus round—something to remember if you need an extra push to play. Beyond that, where Book of Dead arrived as a blazing hit, Book of Dead GO Collect feels more like a tepid return, and it’s not entirely clear what problem it was meant to solve. Maybe the goal was to pair a famous title with the GO Collect concept. That part works, but while it lends weight to the feature, Book of Dead GO Collect may also, arguably, dull the shine of the original.
