World Darts Championship: Slot Overview
Developer Blueprint Gaming adds another title to its sizeable catalogue of branded slots by leaning further into the world of sport—this time focusing on high-stakes competitive darts. This isn’t a casual pub match over a few beers, but the elite stage of the PDC World Darts Championship. Even though it’s an international tournament, British players tend to rule the roost, so it’s easy to imagine the slot landing better in the UK than across mainland Europe. Darts-themed slots are relatively rare, particularly ones featuring recognisable personalities. Feature-wise, though, World Darts Championship doesn’t break new ground. Rather than building something fresh around the theme, Blueprint has reworked the familiar Fishin’ Frenzy formula, with a couple of notable tweaks.
If the ten blokes on the splash screen look familiar, you’ve probably found the right slot. That feeling is confirmed when the 5-reel, 10-payline layout loads up and Chase the Sun by Planet Funk kicks in. If you’ve never witnessed a Championship Darts venue pumping out that song, it’s been dubbed ‘the most British thing ever’. If the presentation hits the mark for you, you’re likely in for a great session. If it doesn’t, you may be better off trying another sports-themed release.
With bets ranging from 10 p/c to $/€500 per spin, World Darts Championship is a medium volatile game and keeps the same RTP as the original Fishin’ Frenzy at 96.12%. It isn’t a carbon copy, though. Blueprint has adjusted a couple of elements in the free spins, including one change so extreme it’s hard not to do a double-take. Overall, if you already know Fishin’ Frenzy, you’ll quickly understand how most of World Darts Championship unfolds.
Once again, the paytable should keep fans happy. Ten different professional darts players appear as the mid-tier symbols—any set of three or more pays. Under them sit the low-paying J-A card royals, while above are darts, trophies, flights, and a logo. The two highest symbols can return 100-200 times the bet, and the logo also pays for two of a kind. Finally, a dartboard wild helps out by substituting for any symbol except scatter or bonus symbols.
World Darts Championship: Slot Features

World Darts Championship centres on a single main feature: a triggered free spins round where the wild symbol gathers cash prizes. Landing 3, 4, or 5 dartboard scatter symbols awards a win of 1x, 1.5x, or 18x the stake, along with 10, 15, or 180 free spins. And yes, that figure is correct—5 scatters really do hand out one hundred and eighty free spins. If you manage to hit five scatters, prepare for a seriously lengthy bonus.
There’s also a small twist to how the feature plays. Players can choose either the standard bonus round or the mystery player option. In both versions, player symbols carry a set cash prize. When they land alongside the dartboard wild, their values are collected and paid out. The key difference in the mystery symbol option is that 1 darts player symbol is randomly selected as the only one that appears during the feature. Ideally, it’s the player with the biggest cash value.
World Darts Championship: Slot Verdict
In plenty of ways, this is exactly what you’d expect from a branded darts slot. It’s packed with star power and backed by the right music, crowd atmosphere, and visuals to make it feel like you’re inside a major PDC event. The only things missing are the fancy dress and the pints—whether those show up is entirely down to the player. Its built-in audience will naturally be more forgiving of any flaws that might bother players who aren’t as invested in the sport. But that’s the point: Blueprint has aimed it squarely at darts fans, giving casual gamblers who also enjoy darts something made for them.
From a more critical angle, Blueprint could have taken more risks and created new mechanics that better match the theme. Top-level darts is incredibly intense, where a tiny mistake can swing an entire match. The players are sharp, composed, and fiercely competitive. It’s a pity Blueprint didn’t capture more of that edge, although World Darts Championship clearly isn’t trying to be that kind of slot.
That said, two changes do help World Darts Championship stand out from other games that use Fishin’ Frenzy‘s collection-style free spins. The first is the outrageous number of spins awarded for five scatters—180, matching the maximum score possible with three darts. Picking the single mystery symbol option comes with clear upsides and downsides: it’s excellent if the higher-value players are selected, and far less exciting if they aren’t.
Fishin’ Frenzy has been a strong performer for the studio over the years, particularly in the UK, but the core feel is starting to seem a bit tired. It still fit nicely in a title like Tivoli, where it was wrapped in a distinctive, dreamy setting. World Darts Championship is bright and showy, yet it can also come across as slightly generic, and unless you follow darts, many of the featured pros may not mean much to you.
Which brings us back to the main point: World Darts Championship is primarily aimed at darts die-hards, or Fishin’ Frenzy fans tempted by the promise of 180 free spins. It’s easy to picture darts supporters firing this up during ad breaks while the Championships are on TV and having a great time. Anyone who doesn’t know the difference between Annie’s room and Annie’s attic may not connect with it, but for the right audience, World Darts Championship should hit the bullseye.
