Wishbringer: Slot Overview

Time to do a little lamp-rubbing, as we’re spinning up a genie-themed online slot from developer Hacksaw Gaming. Magic carpet included? Jokes aside, Wishbringer is a wish-granting style slot that can potentially deliver the goods in the form of winnings and the like. Still, if you’re hoping for a wildly original Hacksaw Gaming release that drags you somewhere totally new, you may be disappointed, because this is essentially a reskin of Beam Boys.

Visually, Wishbringer is exactly what you’d expect: a genie slot, which feels slightly unusual for Hacksaw Gaming, as the studio typically goes bolder with themes or at least with how they’re presented. The One Thousand and One Nights/Aladdin vibe is front and centre, with a floating blue genie, a lamp-filled street backdrop, and other fitting characters. An exotic soundtrack rounds it out, and while it’s not groundbreaking, it does the job.

Hacksaw and the team often lean toward paylines, yet Wishbringer is a 4,096 ways-to-win game running on a 6×4 matrix. Somewhere behind the curtain sits the game’s medium volatile math model, offered in four RTP versions, with 96.33% as the top available return. Unlike Beam Boys, Wishbringer sticks to a single volatility setting, with no option to swap between Normal or Extreme. There are multiple bonus buys to choose from, along with stakes of 10 c to $/€100.

Low pays come from Arabian-styled card ranks 10 through A, while the higher symbols include a necklace, some gold items, swords, a male character, and a female character. Standard 6 OAK wins pay 0.5 times the bet across all symbols, while a 6 OAK premium hit returns 0.8 to 2 times the stake.

Wishbringer: Slot Features

Wishbringer slot – genie feature in action

For a Hacksaw Gaming release, Wishbringer’s feature set is unexpectedly short, with Wild Genie Rows, the Arabian Nights bonus game, and feature buys being the main points to cover.

Wild Cloud Rows

Genie symbols can appear on any reel except the leftmost reel. When one lands, the Genie symbol blows Clouds leftward across every position in its row. Any spot occupied by a Genie or Cloud becomes wild, meaning it substitutes for all paying symbols. A winning line of 6 wilds awards 5x the bet.

Arabian Nights Bonus Game

During the base game, landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 FS scatters grants 5, 10, 20, or 40 free spins, respectively. The Arabian Nights bonus game plays with the same rules as the base game, but with a better chance of hitting the Genie symbol. While it’s running, 2 FS scatters add +2 spins, and 3 scatters award +4 more.

Bonus Buys

From the bonus buy menu, players can trigger BonusHunt Feature Spins for 5x the bet, making the bonus round 10 times more likely to activate. Genie’s Wish FeatureSpins cost 50x the bet and ensure at least 1 Genie symbol lands on reels 2-6, while Genie’s Magic FeatureSpins cost 200x the bet and guarantee at least 1 Genie symbol appears on reels 4-6. The bonus round itself can also be purchased for 110x the bet, awarding 10, 20, or 40 free spins.

Wishbringer: Slot Verdict

That ended up feeling strangely unexpected. Wishbringer doesn’t come across like a typical Hacksaw Gaming slot, and instead feels closer to something a smaller partner studio might have released rather than the flagship name. Then again, it makes more sense when you remember it’s a remake of Beam Boys, reusing pretty much the same features and mechanics from the laser-cat game and dressing them in genie clothing. Maybe it’s the theme execution that feels out of place. The overall presentation is fairly standard for Hacksaw Gaming, and at a glance, Wishbringer could easily be mistaken for a different studio’s work.

Of course, reskins rarely overflow with fresh ideas, so that’s part of the deal. What really drags Wishbringer down is how broadly generic the genie theme feels. This isn’t a knock on games that look like this, but a big part of Hacksaw Gaming’s reputation comes from titles like Wanted Dead or a Wild or Hand of Anubis, where familiar themes were twisted into something grimy, dark, and dangerous. Wishbringer, by comparison, has the vibe of a slot that almost any studio could have produced. Genies are a common slot topic, and players have come to expect more inventive flavour from the studio, or at least a more creative spin when Hacksaw Gaming tackles well-worn themes.

In terms of gameplay, Wishbringer holds up about as well as Beam Boys did, and left-spreading wilds combined with 4,096 ways to win can be brutal in the right (or wrong) way. It’s also easy to picture how the 10,000x max win might land. Overall, Wishbringer is essentially Beam Boys, just without the weird, distinctive personality that would help it stand out and make the features truly pop.
