Wings of Ra Megaways: Slot Overview
Ra, the Egyptian god of the sun and sky, isn’t usually shown with wings, but with a bit of creative freedom, developer Red Tiger has delivered Wings of Ra Megaways. As before, this is a continuation of Wings of Ra (the non-Megaways version) that launched roughly 4 years earlier. In Wings of Ra Megaways, the reel set-up has been enlarged and chain reaction wins have been added, while the heart of the original—its Mystery Coins and the free spins royal-symbol removal mechanic—has been brought back and built into the new format.
Red Tiger has also upgraded the visuals to suit the larger grid, making Wings of Ra Megaways an eye-catching release. The base game is set indoors in a warm, fire-lit chamber filled with statues, hieroglyphs, and artwork, and it looks great. The free spins scene shifts outside to a high viewpoint over the Nile, with pyramids stretching into the distance under golden sunlight. It’s all put together nicely for fans of Egyptian-themed slots.

On Wings of Ra Megaways’ 6 reels, between 2 to 7 symbols may appear per reel, creating up to 117,649 ways to win. Winning combinations must start from the leftmost reel, with matching symbols landing on consecutive reels. The gameplay is driven by a medium volatile model, and the top RTP available in Wings of Ra Megaways is 95.72%. Bets range from 10 c to $/€100.
The lower-paying symbols are the card royals 10 through A, while the higher-value icons are an Eye of Horus, an Ankh, a bird, a lady, and a man. Landing 6 matching royals pays 0.2 to 0.25 times the bet, and 6 matching premium symbols return 0.5 to 5 times the bet. Wilds replace all paying symbols and can appear on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Wings of Ra Megaways: Slot Features

Mystery Coins were a key part of the original Wings of Ra slot, and they return in Wings of Ra Megaways. Alongside Mystery Coins, you also get chain reactions and free spins.
Chain Reactions
Chain reactions trigger whenever a winning combination lands on the grid. The winning symbols are removed, creating gaps that are then filled as new symbols drop down. This process can repeat indefinitely, stopping only when no further win is formed.
Mystery Coin
Mystery Coins do not appear as part of a chain reaction and can only land on the initial spin. When they show up, all Mystery Coins visible reveal the same type of random pay symbol.
Free Spins
Free spins scatter symbols can land on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. Landing 3 or 4 scatters grants 10 or 15 free spins, respectively. During the bonus round, scatters are unable to land.
Mystery Coins can still appear, and when they do, they are collected on a dedicated progress bar. Each time the bar becomes filled, the current lowest-paying royal symbol is removed from the reels for the rest of the feature. If a symbol has been removed and a win occurs, any remaining symbols of that removed type left on the reels vanish after the winning symbols disappear. Once a symbol is removed, Mystery Coins will no longer reveal that symbol.
You need 15 Mystery Coins to remove the 10 symbol, 30 Mystery Coins in total to remove the J, 45 in total for the Q, 60 in total for the K, and 75 in total for the A.

Wings of Ra Megaways: Slot Verdict
With so many Egyptian-themed slots out there, Wings of Ra Megaways still finds its place. It improves on the original while retaining many of the same ideas. It’s also pleasant to look at, and the Megaways format adds a familiar, crowd-pleasing touch—like bringing a semi-famous family friend along to give a small gathering a bit more weight. Overall, though, there isn’t any real “wow” factor, so even committed Egyptian slot fans shouldn’t feel too crushed if they skip it.
One standout moment on the reels came when a large number of landed Mystery symbols revealed one of the higher-paying icons, resulting in a satisfyingly big hit. Exactly how large wins can get is unclear, however. The maximum multiplier listed on the help page was lower than some results seen during the review, which makes the 784.4x value look questionable. The stake range is fairly broad, which could hint that the game’s win potential sits on the modest side—so it’s hard to say.
And will that matter to most players anyway? That’s a bit unfair, because the mystery mechanic can deliver some fun moments, and Wings of Ra Megaways is certainly easy on the eyes. If you enjoyed the first game, then Wings of Ra Megaways should provide the same kind of enjoyment—possibly even more—and players with a good imagination might get a kick out of the visuals, as if they’ve been pulled into a strange time-warped version of ancient Egypt.
