Wild Toro 2: Slot Overview
If any reminder was needed that the years disappear quickly, it’s that five years separate the launch of Wild Toro in 2016 and its sequel Wild Toro 2. For plenty of players, Wild Toro is practically shorthand for ELK Studios, as it was one of their early breakout hits and is still among their best-known slots. To mark the occasion, ELK intends to roll out several Wild Toro-related titles, starting with a direct continuation called Wild Toro 2. The sequel keeps the unmistakable Wild Toro feel, while adding more features, a shifting reel setup, and a more energetic presentation.
Visually, one of the first things you’ll notice is the changed camera perspective, giving a stronger sense of the Spanish city setting. Rather than looking down from above, you now view the scene from below, with market stalls, buildings, shops, and distant fortresses stretching across the skyline. It looks like siesta hour as the streets are empty, but the Matador and his hot-headed companion Toro are still front and centre on the reels, and their rivalry is as intense as ever. Helping crank up the atmosphere is a superb flamenco-tinged soundtrack packed with blaring trumpets, guitar, chants, call-outs, and smouldering drum rhythms.
Wild Toro 2 runs on a 5×5, 259 ways layout, works smoothly across devices, and supports wagers from 20 p/c to $/€100 per spin. With a five-year gap, some math tweaks were always likely, and here the three headline metrics have indeed been adjusted. The RTP has been nudged down to 95%, while volatility has been raised to a high volatile model. The biggest shift is the win potential, though: at 10,000 times your stake, it’s far more tempting than before.
Interestingly, the pay symbols have also been refreshed. There are now 8 in total—four ribbon-decorated J-A royals as the low pays, followed by silver coins, gold coins, knifed oranges, and flowers as the four premium symbols. Landing 5 of a kind with the high-value symbols pays 1.2 to 5 times the stake. Multiple wild symbols show up throughout play; all of them can substitute for pay symbols to form wins. The simplest wild is the logo tile, while the others are tied directly to the game’s features.
Wild Toro 2: Slot Features
Anyone who enjoyed the first game will be pleased that the Matador and Toro still don’t get along—so when they appear together, the Toro Goes Berserk feature can kick in. Alongside that, you’ll find walking wilds, walking wild multipliers, Matador Respins, Expanding Reels, and a range of X-iter betting modes.
To begin with, the Silver Matador symbol functions as a walking wild, and the Golden Matador is a walking wild with a progressive multiplier. When at least 1 Matador symbol lands, Expanding Matador Respins start, and each Matador in view adds an additional row of symbols up to 8 positions high, taking the grid to a maximum of 502 ways to win. Matador symbols step one reel to the left until they exit the panel, and each step triggers a respin. Extra Matadors can drop in during respins, prolonging the sequence. On top of that, every time the Golden Matador moves, its multiplier increases by +1.
Toro the bull is another walking wild, handing out respins as he travels left across the reels. If Toro and the Matador are in view simultaneously, the Toro Goes Berserk feature activates. Toro then charges at the Matador, leaving a trail of regular wild symbols in his wake. When Toro defeats a Golden Matador, the progressive multiplier is transferred to Toro. Should more Toro symbols land during respins, they inherit the current multiplier from the Toro already present on the reels.
Watch out for the black Matador symbol. Like the other Matador symbols, it can trigger reel expansions, respins, and Toro Goes Berserk when it lands. The key difference is that it acts as a blocker instead of a wild, meaning it can’t create wins by itself.
The original Wild Toro included four ELK betting strategies; here you get ELK’s X-iter feature buy menu. If you want to vary your stake approach, it includes:
- 100% Win: ensures a winning round for 5x the bet.
- Sticky Wilds: one spin with a guaranteed Expanding Matador Respin for 25x the bet. All wild symbols that appear during respins remain sticky.
- Bonus: guarantees the Toro Goes Berzerk feature for 100x the bet.
- Big Bonus: three spins with at least 1 Expanding Matador Respins feature for 250x the bet. All wild symbols are sticky, and expanded reels persist between spins.
- Super Bonus: identical to the Big Bonus, plus the highest multiplier reached in a spin is added to any Gold Matador multiplier that appears on the next spin. This costs 500x the bet.
Wild Toro 2: Slot Verdict
Since Wild Toro first arrived, ELK has significantly sharpened its world-building through releases such as the Gold series, and that know-how is clearly on display in Wild Toro 2. The sequel feels much more animated than the original, with brighter visuals and a soundtrack that convincingly transports you to the Iberian Peninsula for Spanish-themed spins. And, as ever, Toro tends to get the better of the Matador, keeping their man-versus-beast clashes entertaining.
That entertainment is boosted further by the improvements ELK has introduced this time around. You can sense not only the Gold series’ visual influence, but also a familiar vibe in the expanding reel mechanic. At its heart, the signature Wild Toro features are still present—there’s simply more space for them to unfold, and when they do, the outcomes can be considerably bigger. Only one Matador is needed to start the respin feature (rather than three in the original), and the extra rows can result in many more wilds if Toro Goes Berserk is triggered. Add progressive multipliers on top, and you have a game that can, on paper, deliver much larger moments and payouts than the first instalment.
The one drawback is a somewhat underwhelming RTP. For most players it likely won’t be a deal-breaker, but it’s clearly lower than the original’s return. Still, some will view that as a fair exchange for the much stronger win potential. In Wild Toro 2, ELK has raised the maximum win to 10,000x the bet, making it notably more lucrative in terms of upside.
Overall, Wild Toro 2 doesn’t reinvent the formula, but ELK has expanded the original in several important ways. With richer audiovisuals, it pulls you in more, and the multipliers plus added rows provide extra punch. Most importantly, it keeps the spirit of the first game intact, making it essential for Wild Toro fans and a more immersive play experience in general.
