Wild Moon Saloon definitely has a few bright spots, but among Wild West-themed slots it doesn’t take long to find titles that simply outshoot it. It brought to mind something like Dead or Alive 2, the Money Train Franchise, or Tombstone RIP stepping in, firing at Wild Moon Saloon’s boots, and forcing it to hop around. That’s meant kindly—Wild Moon Saloon is enjoyable to mess around with—but calling it the ‘wildest saloon in the west’ feels more hopeful than accurate.

The cartoony visuals land well, the soundtrack has plenty of character, and there’s a decent list of features to explore. In our experience, not many popped in the base game, but with Super Stake enabled, free spins arrived surprisingly often. From that point, though, some players may start to drift. The pick feature seemed to lean heavily toward awarding extra free spins, much like what we’ve seen in Yggdrasil’s Golden Fish Tank 2 Gigablox or Thunderkick’s Wild Heist. That’s not a bad thing, but it would have been better to see more of the other rewards. Wild Modifiers, in particular, were hard to come by. And the scatter pay feature also feels a bit underpowered, topping out at 100x the bet even with 15+ scatter pay symbols on screen. Scatter pays do add another layer, and the game offers a respectable max win, but it still leaves you wanting more.

To avoid repeating ourselves, Wild Moon Saloon simply didn’t end up being as untamed as it claims. What Hurricane Games and Stakelogic have built will suit the right player and should get some yee-haws, yet it doesn’t come close to taking the title from the genre’s heavy hitters.
