Wild Cauldron (Quickspin): Overview
Quickspin returns with its second tumble slot – Golden Glyph was the first, taking players on a feature-packed trip through Ancient Egypt. Wild Cauldron is equally loaded with mechanics, but this time the tone is more playful, packed with adorable monsters, plenty of charm, and a clear sprinkle of magic. Notably, Quickspin has deliberately kept the backstory minimal. Rather than spelling out a detailed plot, Quickspin has taken a Roland Barthes-style approach and lets players interpret what’s going on. Whose laboratory is this, who’s brewing the concoction, and what role do the monsters play? Maybe by the end of the review we’ll have a better idea.
It’s difficult not to like Wild Cauldron as soon as it boots up. Quickspin set out to build a ‘warm and fuzzy atmosphere for the player to immerse themselves in’, and that intention comes through clearly. The grid sits inside a magical lab perched above a bubbling cauldron. Around the room are assorted mystical odds and ends—globes, candles, books, telescopes—adding to the vibe. The space opens onto a starry night sky, and overall the scene works really well.
Play starts on 6 reels, 4 rows, and 4096 win ways. With all the empty space on the grid, though, it’s obvious there’s room for it to grow. Bets range from 10 p/c up to $/€100 to set the tumbling in motion. RTP is a touch lower than Golden Glyph’s, but still solid at 96.09%. The math model is high volatility, which Quickspin rates at 5/5. The potential is also huge, which we’ll get to shortly. Put together, Wild Cauldron is the kind of slot that can launch a session skyward—or blow up on you, much like the cauldron occasionally does.
All symbols are bespoke and created specifically for this game. The low pays are 6 icon-style symbols in blue, green, pink, red, orange and yellow—think pentagrams, moons, lightning bolts and similar motifs. The high pays are 5 cute little monsters in blue, green, yellow, red, and pink. Wins pay for 3-6 of a kind, with the pink monster the top payer at 3.5 times the stake. The gold and red ‘W’ acts as the wild and substitutes for any paying symbol. When wilds contribute to winning combinations, each one increases the win multiplier by +1, up to a maximum of 7 on a single spin.
Wild Cauldron (Quickspin): Features

In general, symbol payouts are on the modest side, largely because the features are designed to combine and build wins. The standout mechanic is the Locking Symbol Tumble feature. It’s a cascade system, but it works differently from the usual approach. When a win hits, the winning symbols remain in place and drop down to the bottom of the grid. Every other symbol is removed, allowing a fresh set to fall in. Each win also adds an extra row, expanding the grid up to a maximum of 6×8. At that point, there are 262,144 win ways active. This continues until no further wins appear, after which the reels shrink back to the standard 6×4 for the next new spin.
There’s also one additional symbol: the green potion bottle. This is the scatter, and it can land anywhere on the grid. Landing 4, 5, or 6 scatters awards 8, 10, or 12 Free Spins respectively. When they appear, they’re poured into the cauldron, triggering an explosion. Once the green smoke fades, the bonus begins. The key twist in the free spins is that the expanding reels and the win multiplier don’t reset between spins. Instead, they remain as they are or continue to increase throughout the free spins. This can lead to striking stacks of matching symbols building up. If two scatters land during the bonus, they add 2 extra free spins to the total.
Wild Cauldron (Quickspin): Verdict
Quickspin has delivered on its goal. The mood really is warm and fuzzy, with just enough magic to make it feel like anything could happen. That sense of possibility comes from the smart feature set, while the cut-scene animations and win sequences add even more character. The “anything can happen” feeling is reinforced by a strong maximum potential of 21,120 times the stake if everything lines up perfectly. In practice, that means getting the Locking Symbol Tumbles to sync up with wilds and the Win Multipliers. When it clicks, wins can snowball rapidly. As for the story, Quickspin offers a clue with the phrase ‘Alchemical Precious Baby Monsters’, though the full meaning is still up in the air. Even so, the reader-response approach is another clever creative choice from the Quickspin team.
All in all, Wild Cauldron is a strong release and a worthy follow-up to Golden Glyph. Charm alone isn’t enough for a slot, and Wild Cauldron supports its personality with gameplay and visuals that should suit a broad audience. More serious players will value the math model; others will be drawn in by the cute monsters and polished animation—along with the big potential. Just be careful when stirring the ingredients. Wild Cauldron can be harsh, and at times it feels like the math model still needs a bit more balancing, as it doesn’t always come across as refined as some tumble-genre titles from Quickspin’s rivals.
