Wheel of Wishes (Alchemy Gaming): Overview
Microgaming has long been a major name in progressive jackpots. Their hugely successful Mega Moolah has delivered more big wins than almost any other slot. But it’s also been around for a long time, so it makes sense that a fresh title would be added to the progressive network. That’s where Wheel of Wishes comes in, created by partner studio Alchemy Gaming. This newcomer doesn’t reveal much about itself. Beyond calling themselves ‘gaming alchemists’, their website offers very few details—no team page and not even an address. It’s still early, though, so more background may appear in time. As a brand-new studio, Wheel of Wishes is currently their first and only slot. That’s a bold debut, especially for a progressive jackpot release. The question is whether it has enough pull to bring players into the network.
The name Wheel of Wishes refers to one of the game’s features and doesn’t say much about the theme at first glance. In practice, the action takes place in a desert landscape with drifting sands and huge rock pillars. It isn’t Egyptian, but it does lean into an Arabian Nights-style look and feel. A big decision with any progressive jackpot slot is choosing the right stake. As is typical for jackpot games, it’s made clear that higher bets improve the odds of triggering the Jackpot Bonus. With that in mind, bets start at 20 c/p per spin and can be pushed up to $/€20. Both the stake and the odds can be boosted even more through the Power Mode feature explained below.
After setting the bet, a spin sets the 5 reel, 3 row layout in motion. The reels are linked by 10 paylines, and wins land when three or more matching symbols connect. The lower-value icons include four bright card suits, plus a quirky pink circle symbol. Higher-paying symbols feature a purple amulet, blue potions, a green and gold book, and a treasure-filled chest. The top regular symbol is the genie lamp, paying 10 times the stake for five of a kind. The wild beats that, awarding 50 times the stake for a full line, and it substitutes for all symbols except the scatter.
As for the numbers, most eyes go straight to the jackpot—but the underlying stats matter too. The RTP is on the lower end, though that’s not unusual for a progressive jackpot slot. In standard mode it is 93.34%, dropping to 92.24% when Power Mode is switched on. Both RTP figures include the Progressive Jackpot contributions. Volatility is not merely low; the developer labels it ‘very low’. In other words, you’ll need persistence to make progress, especially given how limited the feature set is.
Wheel of Wishes (Alchemy Gaming): Features

Let’s open with the main draw. Wheel of Wishes offers four Progressive Jackpots with the following seed values:
- Mini starts at €10.
- Minor starts at €100.
- Major starts at €50,000.
- Wowpot! starts at €2,000,000.
There are two routes to landing a jackpot. The usual method is to hit two or more scatters anywhere on the reels, which triggers a Power Spin (the scatter also pays out 5x, 50x, or 500x the stake when 3, 4, or 5 land respectively). During Power Spins, oversized 3×3 symbols occupy the central 3 reels. Among these is the new Bonus Wheel symbol. If a complete Bonus Wheel appears on the screen, it grants a spin of the Wheel of Wishes Jackpot Bonus. Similar to Mega Moolah, the wheel is split into segments, with smaller jackpots appearing on more segments. The Wowpot has just one segment.
The other way to chase the jackpot is by turning on Power Mode. When enabled, every spin becomes a Power Spin, massively improving the odds of completing the Bonus Wheel symbol. Naturally, that advantage comes at a price—here it means paying a steep 10 times the stake on every spin.
Wheel of Wishes (Alchemy Gaming): Verdict
Choosing how to play isn’t as straightforward here as it is in many slots. Power Mode, combined with the better odds tied to higher stakes, complicates the decision. Power Mode noticeably boosts the likelihood of landing full Bonus Wheels, which also helps explain why the RTP is lower with it active. With Power Mode running, the jackpot wheel is spun more often, but it tends to stop on the Mini Jackpot. If you’re wagering big—especially at the maximum—then paying up to 200 credits per spin for a €10 hit can feel hard to justify. At that pace, a bankroll can disappear as fast as water in the desert. Still, the possibility of landing more than €2 million is exactly what makes progressive jackpots so tempting, and so risky. With Wheel of Wishes, once you run the calculations, it can come across as a bit cynical.
A further issue is that without the jackpots, the gameplay doesn’t offer much excitement. There’s no free spins feature like you’d find in Mega Moolah, for example. In terms of non-jackpot upside, the best outcome is a full screen of premium symbols. That can produce single-spin wins of 500 times the stake thanks to stacked wilds. Much more commonly, you’ll end up with a screen of lower-value symbols. Even the next-best full-screen result—the lamp—only pays 100 times your bet. Put that together with the game’s very low volatility, and the base game can feel fairly flat.
