Tut’s Twister (Yggdrasil Gaming): Introduction
Tut’s Twister is a Yggdrasil Gaming video slot built on a 5-reel, 4-row layout with 25 paylines. It runs smoothly across all devices and supports stakes from 0.25 to 125 EUR. Rather than offering a classic free spins round where scatters award a fixed number of spins, the game focuses on two mechanics instead: the Twister feature and Twister collections, both covered in detail below.
The four low-paying symbols are red hearts, purple spades, green clubs, and blue diamonds. The four higher-value symbols are pots of gold, birds, rings, and scrolls, with the top payout coming from the pot of gold at 5.2x for 5 of a kind. A Wild symbol also appears, shown as the face of a demon pharaoh.
Twister Feature
Hitting 2 or more wilds in the base game triggers Tut’s Twister. Tut randomly selects one of the wilds and turns it into a twister, making the entire reel wild. Respins are then awarded, and with each walking wild respin the wild twister column drags every wild one step closer to the tornado. Any new wilds that land during respins also become walking wilds moving toward the twister.
If the player reaches a total of at least 3 wilds that have turned into walking wilds during the twister feature, a multiplier is applied to all remaining spins in the feature. The multiplier begins at 2x once 3 wilds are reached, and it rises by 1 for every additional 3 wilds that land during the respins.
The twister feature keeps awarding respins for as long as at least one wild is still walking. Once there are no wilds left moving toward the tornado, a “last chance” respin is granted to give one final opportunity to land at least one more wild and extend the mode. If no wilds appear on the last chance feature, all wilds absorbed into the twister are redistributed randomly to any reel window position except the wild column, and a final win is calculated using the same multiplier achieved on the previous spin.
Twister Collections
Above reels 1,2,3,4 and 5 there are 3, 4, 5, 4, and 3 hieroglyphic symbols respectively. A collection bonus can be triggered by completing all the hieroglyphic symbols for a specific reel.
Whenever exactly one wild lands, it randomly reveals a hieroglyphic symbol. If the revealed symbol matches one of the still-unfilled hieroglyphs above the reel where the wild landed, that symbol is filled in.
When the final missing hieroglyphic symbol is completed for a reel, the feature starts and Tut transforms the single wild into a twister as the reels respin. On the first respin of the twister collection feature, each hieroglyphic symbol from the triggering reel is randomly fired onto reel positions, randomly excluding the positions in the wild twister column.
The wilds placed onto the screen are added to the multiplier count, ensuring the feature begins at at least a 2x multplier since each reel contributes at least 3 wilds. After the collected hieroglyphics are placed into the reel window, any further wilds that land also become walking wilds and add to the multiplier count. The reels then continue to respin as the wilds walk in exactly the same way as in the standard Twister feature.
Conclusion
This is one of the more recent Yggdrasil slots where the overall production hasn’t really impressed us. It’s certainly not terrible, but it doesn’t match the level of polish we typically expect from them.
Tut’s Twister can feel confusing at the beginning, and it takes a while to fully grasp how the features work. The base game on its own isn’t engaging and offers very little potential. Instead, players are reliant on the Twister features—especially the free spins game triggered by collecting hieroglyphic symbols—in the hope of landing extra multipliers, which appears to be the main route to any worthwhile win.
