When a series reaches its fifth instalment after nearly two decades, it’s a sign the formula has legs. Back in the earlier days of online gambling, Thunderstruck arrived like a lightning strike, though it was the sequel, Thunderstruck II, that truly struck gold. Since then we’ve seen a Mega Moolah version, a Wild Lightning edition, and now Stormchaser. This is arguably the best-looking of the bunch, and it supports those immersive visuals and sound with genuinely enjoyable gameplay.

To start with, there’s the Wildstorm feature, which has appeared in most Thunderstruck slots (and in Jurassic Park Gold), helping give the line a shared identity. It adds a bit of extra spice to the base game and makes for a fun finale to free spins if you’ve collected enough tokens. The remaining mechanics aren’t exactly revolutionary, but they’re combined effectively—Rolling Reels and multiplier symbols work together nicely and can occasionally deliver a respectable outcome. The bonus buy also deserves attention: it’s comparatively “cheap” versus many alternatives, and it felt like decent value because players still go through the free spins wheel stage, the token award, then the free spins themselves, and potentially, with luck, one or more Wildstorm spins at the end. None of the feature buys went truly wild during testing, but they weren’t especially punishing either. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, and maybe we ran well, yet the feature buy seemed to provide a strong entertainment return for the price.

That emphasis on entertainment runs through most of Thunderstruck Stormchaser. The main drawback was encountering some longer loading pauses between phases, though they weren’t major deal-breakers. Overall, Thunderstruck Stormchaser was unexpectedly enjoyable. Then again, perhaps that’s not so unexpected considering it was created by Terence Igesund, known for Immortal Romance. All told, Thunderstruck Stormchaser blends excellent art, head-banging music, and a Marvel film-like feel into a satisfying Thor-themed spectacle.
