The Pig Wizard Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Overview
Looking back at the original Pig Wizard for this review, it’s clear how far Blueprint Gaming has come visually since the game first launched in 2015. From a mechanics and gameplay standpoint it still plays reasonably well, but the painfully low RTP of 93.74% is simply not acceptable for an online slot, making it one to steer clear of. The Pig Wizard is also classic Blueprint: hectic and feature-heavy, much like their modern releases. An amusing detail; based on information found online, the game was initially set to be promoted as “Harry Trotter – The Pig Wizard”, a very obvious Harry Potter pun, but since there’s no reference to it inside the game, it appears Blueprint dropped the concept before release—likely for legal reasons. That’s our assumption, at least.
The follow-up, called The Pig Wizard Megaways, is a totally different title, as you’ll quickly notice. Running on 6 reels with up to 15,625 ways to win, it comes with a set of reel modifiers plus a free spins round where every spin receives a random multiplier of up to 50x. Fortunately, the RTP is far more reasonable here, though at 95.75% it still sits below the 96% that’s generally considered the industry norm. The Pig Wizard Megaways is available on all devices with stakes from 0.10 to €/$10 per spin.
While it clearly borrows from the Harry Potter universe, The Pig Wizard Megaways doesn’t take itself too seriously. Led by a pig wizard, the slot creates a magical vibe with a supermoon and a castle in the background. The palette is bright, and the artwork looks smooth, rich, and detailed—overall, it’s a very attractive video slot. On the reels you’ll find six low-value symbols from 9 through to A. The four premium icons are winged spellbooks, treasure chests, wizard hats, and golden hog coins. The coin is the top payer, awarding 10 times your stake for a 6 of a kind hit. There’s also a wild that can land on every reel except the first, and it substitutes for all symbols apart from the scatters.
The Pig Wizard Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Features

As a Megaways-powered slot, every reel displays a random reel height (from 2-7 rows) on each spin. When fully expanded, this creates 15,625 ways to win. And, in true Blueprint style, the game also includes a set of extra add-ons called Mystery Mirror modifiers. These can trigger at random on any base game spin, and here’s what they do:
- Spinnus Repeatum – when the symbol shown in the mirror is part of a reel win, all matching symbols lock in place while the remaining positions respin. If additional winning symbols land, those lock too and the reels spin again. This repeats until no further winning symbols appear.
- Magical Win Spin – the Pig Wizard places wilds or mystery symbols onto the reels. Mystery symbols can reveal any other matching symbol except scatter.
- Winnus Revealo – the Pig Wizard shows up after a spin to convert a losing result into a win or to enhance an existing win into something stronger.
The biggest payouts are expected to come from the Magic Spins Free Spins feature, triggered by landing 3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels – 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatter symbols award 10, 12, 15, or 20 free spins respectively. During the feature, landing 2 or more scatters grants extra spins – 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters add 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 more spins – with no limits.
The headline mechanic is the random multiplier applied to every free spin, which can increase payouts by up to 50x. On top of that, the Mystery Mirror modifiers can also activate during the round, meaning you can still benefit from win streaks, added wilds, and mystery symbols.
The Pig Wizard Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Verdict
The Pig Wizard Megaways might be a complete departure from the original, but as a Megaways slot it doesn’t really introduce anything particularly fresh. Much of the base game revolves around the respin mechanic, which triggers fairly often. Even so, it rarely feels impressive, largely because the symbol values are unusually low. For that reason, you’ll typically need the random multiplier in the free spins round to generate meaningful wins.
On the surface, The Pig Wizard Megaways has plenty of appeal. The visuals are excellent—something Blueprint Gaming usually delivers—and the mechanics and features can keep you spinning for a long time. From a maths perspective, though, it’s less satisfying. The RTP is lower than we’d prefer, and the base game is unfortunately pretty weak due to the small payouts. That was certainly our experience. The free spins feature helps to balance things out, but expect to see lots of modest 2x-3x multipliers. All in all, it’s a solid slot, but not one that’s likely to earn much excitement within the wider casino community.
