The Goonies Megaways: Slot Overview
To tease a little, Blueprint Gaming can feel like that mate who insists on putting on the same film every time you drop by. Depending on your mood, that’s either mildly irritating or oddly endearing—and for Blueprint Gaming, that repeat watch is the 80s cult favourite adventure movie The Goonies. It may be edging toward 40 years old (at the time of review), yet The Goonies remains a warm, crowd-pleasing film that still entertains today. Beyond how well it’s aged and how strong the nostalgia factor is, it’s clear someone at Blueprint Gaming has a real fondness for it, because The Goonies Megaways is roughly the studio’s fifth related release, not including the scratch card edition.
As it happens, The Goonies Megaways is essentially built on the framework of The Goonies Hey You Guys, so a few technical traits carry over. Visually, it’s also very close: the reels sit on a wooden tabletop that feels tied to One Eyed Willie’s treasure map. Gold coins are scattered around, along with the famous hole-punched doubloon, and the best part for fans is that Sloth, Mikey, Data, and Mouth all appear on the reels with their trademark Goonie charm. Chunk doesn’t seem to have made the cut, though, which is a bit of a letdown.

With Megaways doing the heavy lifting, the layout expands to 6 reels, and each reel can land up to 5 rows of symbols. Win routes fluctuate from spin to spin too, reaching up to 15,625, so while The Goonies Megaways doesn’t max out BTG’s full potential, there are still loads of ways to connect a payout. RTP sits a touch low at 95%, volatility is medium-high, and bets range from 10 c to $/€25 per spin.
The Goonies Megaways includes 11 standard paying symbols. At the lower end are the 9-A card ranks, paying players 1 to 1.5 times the bet for landing 6 of a kind, while the higher-value set is Data, Mouth, Mikey, Sloth, plus a pirate flag, where 6 matching premium symbols return 2 to 5 times the bet. The doubloon wild appears only on reels 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, and it can replace the regular pay symbols.
The Goonies Megaways: Slot Features

The Goonies Megaways packs in a set of mechanics featuring Cash Collecting, Hey You Guys modifiers, free spins, and Treasure Blitz Super Spins.
Cash Collect
On every spin, Cash symbols can appear on all reels. When you begin playing, the Cash Collect symbol is active. If a Cash or Cashpot symbol lands in view and a Cash Collect symbol hits the rightmost reel on that same spin, the Cash Collect feature triggers—the Cash Collect symbol expands across the reel and collects the values shown on any Cash and/or Cashpot symbols (ranging from 20x to 2,500x). Each Cash Collect symbol that lands lights up one step on the Unlock Trail. Landing on a special icon position unlocks a game feature. Once all icons are unlocked, every unlocked feature stays active in the base game and in free spins from that point forward. They are:
- 2 Collect symbols – unlocks Dual Collect so Collect symbols may land on reels 1 and 6.
- 5 Collect symbols – unlocks Streak Collect. Streak Collect holds Cash symbols in view before the reels respin. Respinning continues until the win is no longer improved, then Cash is collected by the Streak Collect.
- 8 Collect symbols – unlocks Boost Collect, which boosts all Cash values in view before collecting Cash symbols.
- 12 Collect symbols – unlocks Multi-X Collect, which collects any Cash symbols in view up to 5 times.
- 17 Collect symbols – unlocks Fortune Wheel. If Collect symbols land along with the Fortune Wheel, a ship’s wheel appears and spins in either a fixed pot prize or a bet multiplier mystery win. This is awarded along with any other collection awards.
- 20 Collect symbols – unlocks Treasure Blitz Super Spins.
Hey You Guys
Hey You Guys may activate randomly on any spin, awarding one of the following:
- Hidden Treasure – randomly adds Cash symbols to the reels.
- Bonus Boost – extra scatter symbols are added to the reels.
- Dynamite Blast – dynamite is thrown onto the reels, upgrading symbols to the top symbol and/or wilds.
- Cave In – symbols are removed from the reels, and new symbols drop in to award a win.

Bonus
Landing 3 or more scatter symbols activates the bonus. Players can choose between free spins or Treasure Blitz Super Spin – once this has been reached on the Unlock Trail. The options are 1 Treasure Blitz Super Spin or 10 free spins, and players also receive 20x, 100x, or 500x the bet when the trigger comes from 4, 5, or 6 scatters, respectively.
Free Spins
Unlocked Cash Collect symbols remain active, and whenever a Cash Collect symbol lands, the prize is awarded for each Cash symbol currently in view. In free spins, Cash Collect symbols are collected as they land.
- Collecting 3 Cash symbols awards +5 additional spins along with an x2 multiplier for any Cash collects.
- Collecting 6 Cash symbols awards +5 additional spins along with an x3 multiplier for any Cash collects.
- Collecting 9 Cash symbols awards +5 additional spins along with an x5 multiplier for any Cash collects.
- Collecting 12 Cash symbols awards +5 additional spins along with an x10 multiplier for any Cash collects.
Treasure Blitz Super Spin
In this mode, only Cash, Cashpot, Collect and Fortune Wheels can land on the reels. Each time a Cash, Cashpot, or Fortune Wheel symbol appears in view, it adds to the Retrigger Trail. On the first Super Spin, collecting 13 Cash, Cashpot, or Fortune Wheel symbols triggers the Pick a Key feature. On the 1st retrigger, collecting 14 of said symbols awards the Pick a Key feature. On later retriggers, collecting 15 symbols unlocks the Pick a Key option. Pick a Key reveals an extra super spin and a multiplier of up to x10. Treasure Blitz Super Spins keep going until the retrigger trail fails to complete, after which the total winnings are paid out.

The Goonies Megaways: Slot Verdict
The Goonies isn’t just one of Blueprint Gaming’s current go-to themes—the studio is also clearly deep into Cash collect titles where players progressively unlock different Collect symbols as they play. There have been plenty of them already, including D10S Maradona, Crazy Chilli, King Kong Cash Even Bigger Bananas, Funky Budha, and naturally The Goonies Hey You Guys. It’s a solid mechanic, but has it been overused at this point? Apparently not, judging by The Goonies Megaways, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Blueprint Gaming keeps sending more unlockable collector-symbol games players’ way.
What helps it feel less samey is the way different themes keep the experience fresh, along with newer additions like Treasure Blitz Super Spins, which look set up for a brief, punchy, high-volatility burst. It’s a feature that can swing either direction, and it creates a genuine choice between taking a single (though retriggerable) Treasure Blitz Super Spin or opting for the more familiar—and some would argue safer—free spins package. That extra option gives the Collect symbol progression a new angle that wasn’t really present in the earlier games mentioned. That said, the fishing-style bonus format feels a little unoriginal, especially since the mechanic is pretty overused now, and the inclusion of jackpots may not suit everyone either, as it ties up some RTP that could otherwise have gone into the bonus features.
Finally, The Goonies Megaways’ maximum win is limited to 10,000x the bet. That’s noticeably lower than what often appears in a Blue Gaming slot’s fine print, but perhaps it’s a more grounded figure, which could explain why the studio has set the cap there. It’s still a respectable ceiling for a satisfying cash-collecting slot with a strong nostalgia kick, although players who liked the broader bonus selection in games like The Goonies or The Goonies Return may not find it quite as exciting.
