The Goonies Slot: Features

Blueprint Gaming slots can be tough to review simply because they usually come loaded with features, and it took a fair amount of playtime to see everything. The Goonies includes 6 main game features and 6 bonus features. We’ll go through the main game features first.

On any spin, One-Eyed Willy’s Riches may trigger at random. When it does, Willy swings across the screen and randomly awards one of the following features:

• Truffle Shuffle Wilds -extra wild symbols are added to the reels.
• Mikey’s Hidden Riches – turns reels into fully stacked wilds.
• Data’s Colossal Symbols -3 reels next to each other can become a Colossal Reel.
• Mouth’s Lucky Coins – Gold coins are added to the reels and then reveal a randomly selected symbol to create a win.
• One-Eyed Willy’s Bonus Boost -Boosts the chance of landing the bonus by adding extra scatter symbols.
• Sloth’s Win Spin – Guaranteed to trigger a big win spin.

Two additional random features can also activate after a losing spin. A scythe can appear to create winning combinations, and a cave collapse may happen to generate wins via symbol drops.

Landing three or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels triggers the One-Eyed Willy’s Bonus Wheel. As in other Blueprint Gaming slots, you can gamble your way up the feature ladder, potentially reaching the One-Eyed Willy’s Treasure feature with a prize of 1000 times the stake. The top feature can also be activated by landing 5 scatter symbols.

There are 6 bonus features in total, all available on the wheel. When the wheel lands on a feature, you can either gamble for a shot at a higher-tier feature further up the ladder, or collect and play the awarded one. Keep in mind, though, the gamble odds don’t necessarily match what the wheel suggests—what appears to be 50-50 could easily be closer to 90-10. If you choose to gamble, all features below the one you received are removed and replaced by the Mystery Win Prize, a coin win feature and the least desirable outcome.

The 6 bonus features on the wheel are:

Fratelli Hideout Bonus – Three keys are shown: CASH ADD (cash prize based on the player’s total bet); COLLECT (ends the feature); HIDDEN TUNNEL (a sub-bonus starts where the player can trigger any of the other bonus features).

Skeleton Organ Bonus – The player picks Organ keys, with each character corresponding to a total bet multiplier. An UPGRADE icon can appear, increasing the multipliers or the feature that may be awarded during the bonus. Three Key symbols open the door to an extra bonus feature. Avoid the Skull and Crossbones—lose three lives and the feature ends.

Super Sloth Free Spins – A new reel set appears featuring the Fratelli villains. If a Sloth Wild lands in view on any spin, all Fratelli symbols currently on the reels turn into the top symbol. Once the feature finishes, a set of chests is shown. Choose one to reveal extra spins, collection to end the feature, or the One-Eyed Willy’s Treasure Bonus.

Goonies Go Wild Free Spins -A new reel set is used here too. After the first spin, one of the top symbols becomes a wild for the rest of the feature. When the feature ends, a set of chests appears. Pick one to reveal extra spins, collection to end the feature or the One-Eyed Willy’s Treasure Bonus.

Inferno Free Spins – At the beginning of each spin, the Inferno sweeps across the reels, turning 1 to 3 consecutive reels into Wilds. After the feature completes, a set of chests is presented. Pick one to reveal extra spins, collection to end the feature or the One-Eyed Willy’s Treasure Bonus.

One-Eyed Willy’s Treasure Bonus – Values spin and stop randomly on a total bet multiplier. The feature continues until the booby trap is triggered.

The Goonies Slot: Verdict

It didn’t take long to notice that The Goonies is essentially a TED clone, which feels like a missed opportunity given how strong the license is. So if you’ve already played TED, you’ll recognise the overall behaviour here. Most meaningful wins are tied to the features, which is why the standard spins often end up as dead spins. From a maths perspective, that’s the trade-off required to support this many features in one game.

Blueprint Gaming clearly prioritises entertainment, and while the slot advertises a max win potential of 10,000 times the stake, our experience with TED was fairly underwhelming. Two-scatter teases show up constantly and feel a bit overdone in our option, and the base-game random feature teases can be genuinely irritating. That said, it’s a fast-moving, action-heavy slot with plenty happening at once—so if you catch it on a good run, it can be a wild experience.
