The Equalizer (Red Tiger): Review
Prepare yourself for a hit of stylish faux-nostalgia in this slick retro-futuristic slot from Red Tiger. Borrowing plenty of vibes from titles like Hotline (NetEnt) and Banana Rock (Play’n GO), The Equalizer delivers a fast, high-intensity experience that feels like a pure adrenaline spike. It openly shows where its inspiration comes from—right down to the neon-heavy colour palette—yet it tweaks familiar ideas in ways that make the game feel surprisingly modern, lively and original.
Red Tiger drops you into a cityscape that could just as easily belong to a 1984 Atari cabinet as it could to some far-off future—take your pick. Running on a 5×4 reel set in the standard mode, it includes a mechanic that can expand both reels and rows, pushing the number of paylines from 15 up to a maximum of 60. There are also stacked wilds that can expand too, plus a free spins round where expanded reels and wilds stay locked in for the full bonus. You can spin this quirky slot for 10 cents to 40€/$ per spin.
On the visual side, it’s genuinely impressive and built around a theme that stands apart from Red Tiger’s more typical output. The most striking element is arguably the huge equalizer beneath the reels, which pulses in response to the soundtrack and certain in-game moments. As a quick aside, the music is perfectly fine, but it isn’t quite as memorable or hooky as you might expect from a slot that leans so hard into a music-driven concept. It does ramp up during the bonus, though a stronger beat could have pushed the atmosphere even further. Still, on the semi-transparent reels set against a neon futuristic metropolis backdrop, you’ll find low-value card suit icons alongside stars, bars, dice and diamonds. The highest-paying symbol is the yellow Lambo, awarding 25 times your stake for 7 of a kind.
The Equalizer (Red Tiger): Features

The Equalizer isn’t overloaded with features, but the ones it does have are smoothly implemented and tend to show up fairly often. One of the core mechanics is the Expanding Slot feature, which triggers at random. Active for the current spin only in the base game, it can grow the layout to a maximum of 7 reels and 6 rows. Alongside that is the Expanding Wilds feature, where wild symbols can increase in size up to 6 symbols high.
While the base game can certainly produce some respectable hits, the real focus is the bass…sorry, the Free Spins round. To activate it, you must land 3 scatter symbols at the same time anywhere on the reels—this awards 10 spins. During free spins, you still have access to all the main-game features, but with several major upgrades.
Any wild that lands will stay on the reels for the rest of the bonus and can shift left or right on each spin. The Expanding Slot feature gets the same treatment—if the reels and rows expand, they remain expanded for the entire free spins session. On top of that, every +scatter symbol that appears will add 1 extra spin to your total, with no limit.
The Equalizer (Red Tiger): Verdict
Considering Red Tiger recently picked up the Megaways engine, it’s a little unexpected to see them launch a shape-shifting slot based on a concept they built in-house. It may not be as complex as Big Time Gaming’s famous framework, but it still brings plenty of pace and variation. The Equalizer does enough to keep the base game engaging, yet it’s the free spins feature that truly drives the experience home. Expanding reels, rows and wilds combined with sticky behaviour and retriggers is a fantastic mix, and it’s arguably one of the strongest Red Tiger bonus rounds we’ve played.
Because it’s volatile, it pays to approach with some caution. In our test runs, bonuses sometimes appeared at roughly 1 in 50 spins, but we also hit long dry stretches where it took hundreds of spins to land one. Still, with 10,000 xbet potential, a fortunate few will definitely end up moving to The Equalizer’s rhythm.
