The Crypt 2 makes one thing clear: Nolimit City isn’t interested in subtlety, and if you’re going to unearth the past again, you’d better bring a bigger shovel. On the audiovisual side, the two games sit in a similar lane, although it was trickier this time to identify exactly who the Dead Legends were meant to be. In The Crypt, the inspirations felt more apparent—Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, and so on—whereas aside from Ozzy, the premium symbols in The Crypt 2 were harder to pin down. Still, that’s part of the fun for music fans who enjoy figuring it out.
