The Crypt: Slot Overview
Step into the bleak, ashen realm of The Crypt from the inventive team at Nolimit City, where the opening text reads ‘They say legends never die.’ It does make you think, though—given enough time, won’t even the greatest legends eventually fade from memory? Sure, modern life (and the internet) can preserve names and achievements for longer, but in the far future even Earth itself will be dried out by the sun’s expansion—so what then? Perhaps by that point humanity will have spread to other worlds, carrying with it a complete archive of our legends and their supposed immortal deeds.
Until we reach that distant day, titles like The Crypt keep certain well-known departed figures in the spotlight. Here, however, the “legends” aren’t shown as they were in life; instead, they return on the reels as undead versions—bones, decay, and all. Watching the gameplay and digging into the rules reveals a small thematic connection between The Crypt and Warrior Graveyard, and a much stronger mechanical connection to Dragon Tribe. Only this time, rather than anonymous warriors or dragons, The Crypt focuses on recognisable faces from the entertainment world—more on those shortly. If this is what “legends never dying” looks like… it’s not exactly an afterlife most would be eager to sign up for.

And just as a zombie-style afterlife won’t appeal to everyone, The Crypt’s math model won’t either: it’s rated 10 out of 10 in terms of volatility, with a free spins frequency of 1 in 328. That feeds into a fairly standard RTP of 96.05% (default, lower models are available) when staking 20 p/c to $/€100 per spin, or 96% when the xBet is used. With xBet enabled, the stake increases by x3, and it becomes 5 times more likely to trigger free spins. Gameplay runs on a 6-reel, 4-row grid, with ways to win shifting from 4,096 to 46,565 depending on which features are active.
The paytable is where the “legends” show up. Among the premium symbols, you seem to get Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, John Lennon/Lou Reed(?), Kurt Cobain, Lemmy, and Elvis, paying 0.9 to 2.5 times the bet for a 6 OAK winning way. Beneath them are the 9 to A card royals, which return 0.5 to 0.75 times the bet for a 6-of-a-kind hit. In both the base game and free spins, winning symbols are removed from the reels. The gaps are filled by symbols dropping down from above, and cascades keep going until no further win lands.
The Crypt: Slot Features

By Nolimit City standards, this isn’t the most feature-stuffed release, but there’s still plenty to cover: the xNudge Wild, xWays, Resurrection Spins, and the Nolimit Bonus.
xNudge Wild
Whenever a wild appears, it drops to the bottom position of its reel and increases a win multiplier for each step it drops. After that, it expands to cover the entire reel, substituting for all symbols except the scatter. If an xWays symbol is involved, the multipliers can increase to x6. xNudge Wilds can land on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. If multiple xNudge Wilds contribute to the same win, their values combine to form the total win multiplier.
xWays
xWays is a mystery symbol that can reveal 2 or 3 of the same symbol, increasing reel height and therefore the number of ways. xWays symbols can land on every reel, expanding a reel up to 6 symbols high, and more than one xWays symbol can appear in a single spin. At maximum expansion, the reels can create up to 46,656 ways to win.
Resurrection Spins
Hitting 3 scatter symbols triggers 10 Resurrection Spins. Each additional triggering scatter adds +3 Resurrection Spins. In this mode, at least 1 xWays symbol is guaranteed to land on every opening cascade. While Resurrection Spins are active, every fourth winning cascade turns one of the five dead legend high-pay symbols into wilds for the rest of the round and grants +2 extra free spins. Additionally, any win that includes the highest-paying symbol awards a +1x multiplier on that symbol. Winning cascades featuring the highest-paying symbol do not contribute toward transforming symbols into wilds—only toward increasing the multiplier.
Nolimit Bonus
Via the feature buy menu, players can purchase 10 Resurrection spins for 100x the bet (RTP 96.21%), 13 Resurrection Spins for 200x the bet (RTP 96.21%), 16 Resurrection Spins for 500x the bet (RTP 96.13%), or a Lucky Draw for 225x the bet (RTP 96.03%).

The Crypt: Slot Verdict
The Crypt begins as a bit of a “who’s who”—oh, it’s that person… hang on, who’s the one over there? From there, it becomes a comparison exercise: what’s familiar, and what’s different between The Crypt, Warrior Graveyard, and Dragon Tribe. In practice, the first two play quite differently despite sharing a gloomy graveyard vibe and the expanding xNudge Wild. The strongest resemblance is clearly between The Crypt and Dragon Tribe. To the point that if you enjoyed the dragon-themed slot, there’s a good chance The Crypt will land well too. Returning briefly to the “battle” idea, The Crypt’s base game can feel like a grind at times. Oddly, there can be plenty happening—cascades, xNudges, and so on—yet meaningful returns may still be difficult to find. Free spins can be similar; even after converting all eligible premium symbols into wilds, it can remain a tough slog. That may suit the theme, but dead spins showed up often and could become irritating. xNudge tended to appear on the far fifth reel, and premium symbols could go quiet during later collection stages, leaving fewer wilds where they’re most useful.
Still, the upside is easy to spot when everything aligns. If you can stack a huge number of ways, flood the reels with wilds through the transforming mechanics, and/or land plenty of Elvis symbols boosted by a timely multiplier, then strong results are absolutely on the table with the right luck. It’s a pity the big win count-up sequence in The Crypt isn’t as standout as some of Nolimit City’s other celebrations. The count-ups are suitably crypt-like, but they’re not as provocative or as laugh-out-loud as the studio often delivers. A potential drawback is that free spins are where the game really kicks up a notch, yet reaching them can be a struggle—and the 1 in 328 trigger rate seems to confirm that. xBet did appear to shorten the wait, but with a 3x stake, it’s a pricey option and could burn through a bankroll quickly.
For the truly fortunate, there’s a hefty max win of 27,000x the bet, with a theoretical hit rate of 1 in 17.76 million spins on the default RTP model—far more forgiving than Dragon Tribe’s 1 in 20 billion for essentially the same top prize. Overall, we may have been a little picky while reviewing The Crypt, but that’s the bar Nolimit City has set—each new release tends to be examined in detail. What’s left after that scrutiny is a smart slot with a playfully imaginative theme, even if it isn’t among Nolimit City’s most elite, wildly groundbreaking games.
