Temple of Tut: Overview
Temple of Tut is a video slot created by Microgaming partners Just For The Win. It features 5 reels, 3 rows, 10 paylines and pays both ways. You can play it on any device with stakes from €0.10 to €250, and it comes with a 96.01% RTP.
Temple of Tut has clearly taken cues from other ancient egyptian staples like Book of Ra and Book of Dead, but this one is unlikely to reach classic status…ever. Like those titles, it’s basic and easy to understand, so most players will pick it up immediately. Although the base game includes a random feature, the focus is really on the bonus (which isn’t much better than the base game).
A line win is paid when 3 or more matching symbols land consecutively from the leftmost position to the right, or from the rightmost to the left. Only the biggest win per line is awarded.
Symbols
Here you follow three adventurers hunting for King Tut’s treasure, and they also make up the highest-value symbols. The female adventurer pays the most and has the exact same value as the Wild symbol, which is 25x for 5 across a payline. The Wild substitutes for all symbols except the Scatter and only appears during the Super Reels feature.
The rest of the symbols aren’t noteworthy enough to spend time describing.
Super Reels Feature
The Super Reels feature can trigger at random in the base game, and it’s permanently enabled during the Free Spins feature. 1 to 5 reels can turn into Super Reels, meaning stacks of wilds are added to the reels. It triggers fairly often, but most of the time it doesn’t really do much.
Free Spins
Landing 3 or more Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels in the main game triggers Free Spins as follows:
- 3 Free Spins symbols: 8 Free Spins
- 4 Free Spins symbols: 15 Free Spins
- 5 Free Spins symbols: 30 Free Spins
The bonus can be retriggered up to a maximum of 60 Free Spins. It sounds generous, but since it’s a low to medium variance game, you’ll likely need that many spins for it to deliver anything meaningful.
Getting 2 or more Free Spins symbols anywhere on the reels in the Free Spins awards the following:
- 2 Free Spins symbols: +2 Free Spins
- 3 Free Spins symbols: +8 Free Spins
- 4 Free Spins symbols: +15 Free Spins
- 5 Free Spins symbols: +30 Free Spins
Super Reels are active on every Free Spins round, which means Wilds can show up on all reels.
Conclusion
As you’ve probably worked out by now, we’re not exactly fans of this game. The reason is simple: it’s extremely dull and it barely pays.
We gave it an hour or two, and before long the sluggish bonus rounds became so repetitive that even retriggers started to feel irritating. To be fair, there is SOME potential here, but you’d need a full screen of wilds/top symbol, and even then the result wouldn’t be all that exciting. In fact, a full sceen of wilds only pays 250x.
You might still like it, but it wasn’t for us.
