Hacksaw Gaming seems to have been on something of a run with expanding wild mechanics lately. Variations on the concept appeared around the same period in titles such as Stormforged and Cursed Seas, and the studio has leaned on multipliers in one form or another since early on. They’ve also proven happy to explore mythology—Ancient Egyptian themes in particular—often with strong results (Hand of Anubis being a standout example). In other words, the team has plenty of mileage making games like Temple of Torment, and it shows. It looks excellent, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the audiovisual package is supported by a smart set of features.

That said, the feature set isn’t exactly jaw-dropping if you’ve played the studio’s recent output, including the games mentioned above. Still, familiarity doesn’t reduce how well the mechanics work, and if you’re after expanding wilds, multiplier wilds, and—within one of the bonus rounds—sticky wilds, Temple of Torment delivers all of that. From a purely anecdotal perspective, it also felt more even-handed than some Hacksaw Gaming releases. That may be down to the medium volatile math model, perhaps because the test session had more of a back-and-forth rhythm than the studio sometimes produces, rather than long stretches of punishment followed by the occasional surprise hit. Naturally, real-world results can differ.
