Wilds

Wilds can appear on any reel and substitute for all standard pay symbols. If a wild carries a multiplier, it boosts the total payout of each payline win it contributes to. If multiple wilds take part in the same winning line, their multiplier values are added together. In the clone process, if a wild lands on top of an existing wild, the two merge, and any multiplier values are combined by addition.

Free Spins

Free spins are awarded by collecting at least 2 scatter symbols. Once the feature begins, the scatter symbols transform into wilds. With each spin, wilds on the reels move down one position until they drop off the bottom row, while additional wilds can still land. Randomly, any number of wilds can become sticky for the spin, holding their position. When scatter symbols appear, each one grants +1 free spin.

This is not something you come across often: an AvatarUX slot that isn’t PopWins and also doesn’t carry the Mr Wu label. So how does it turn out? Despite already leaning heavily on the word, Sweet Gummy really is a sweet little game, offering plenty for candy-loving players to get their teeth into. That said, the two reward-reel systems work quite differently in a number of respects, and having distinct mechanics to pick from is a definite plus.

The Wild Reel’s strengths show up in the base game at times. When you manage to align a reward symbol with one or two wilds, you get a glimpse of what the mechanic can do. Once free spins kick in, the action ramps up noticeably—and as an extra note, natural triggers landed fairly frequently during the review, which was a welcome surprise. The bonus round stands out thanks to wilds shifting down a position (or sticking) each spin, allowing multiplier values to build as they travel down the grid. With fresh wilds still able to drop in, and existing ones potentially being cloned, the board can end up packed with multiplier wilds. Sure, Sweet Gummy doesn’t use the ways-to-win format AvatarUX often prefers, but 40 paylines proved to be a solid setup, and the maximum win is 10,000x the bet.

There’s a faint touch of Pragmatic Play’s Candy Blitz Bomb in Sweet Gummy, but only in passing—never to the point where it feels like AvatarUX is trying to swipe ideas like Arthur Slugworth stealing recipes from Willy Wonka. After mastering PopWins, where winning symbols are replaced by two to expand reel space, AvatarUX has once again demonstrated how a separate rewards reel can inject extra excitement into a slot.
