Sticky Bandits Unchained: Slot Overview
True to the title, Quickspin’s Sticky Bandits line has always leaned into “stickiness”, and Sticky Bandits Unchained marks the fifth entry in the series that kicked off in 2017. Over time, the collection has evolved with changing trends, regularly tweaking its visuals, mechanics, and overall feel depending on what the Quickspin team wanted to do next. With Sticky Bandits Unchained, the developer keeps the tougher, darker, more threatening tone introduced in Sticky Bandits: Trail of Blood, increases the win potential, and reintroduces the large symbols. Is this the most sticky instalment yet?
Across the years, the Sticky Bandits games have shifted character more than once, including moving from the brighter style of the early titles to the gloomier atmosphere of the most recent release. Whether that’s better than before is debatable, but it does place Sticky Bandits Unchained alongside plenty of the market’s more “serious” Western slots (Tombstone RIP, Wanted Dead or a Wild or Dead or Alive 2), which often paint a harsher picture of frontier life. Instead of Deadwood, this one takes place in Dustwood, a nowhere “town ruled by chaos” where players can ride with the Sticky Bandits. It may not be the most striking Western slot you’ll ever see, but Dustwood’s bleak edge comes through clearly—this is the sort of place where people look ready to grab their six-shooters at any moment.

To get involved, players can wager from 20 c to $/€100, and there are three bonus buys available. Sticky Bandits Unchained is highly volatile, which is worth bearing in mind, and it comes in multiple RTP setups, with 96.09% as the default. Across all versions, the hit rate is 34.51%, and gameplay runs on a 5-reels by 3-rows layout with 10 paylines used to form winning combinations.
Low-paying symbols are the steel-plated J to A card royals, while the higher-value icons (listed in the paytable as Mediums) include a horse, a man making a RIP-stamped cross, a woman cooling herself with a fan, and a rough-looking character. A 5-of-a-kind line of low pays returns 2 to 5 times the bet, while landing 5 matching high pays on a payline awards 10 to 25 times the stake.
Sticky Bandits Unchained: Slot Features

Wilds play a central role in Sticky Bandits Unchained. To start with, wilds replace any paying symbols and deliver 75x the bet for a 5 wild winning line. On top of that, when at least 3 wild symbols land in the base game, one of them transforms into a sticky 2×2 Colossal Wild, and one of the free spins rounds is triggered. The 2×2 Colossal Wild stays sticky for the rest of the relevant feature.
Wild West Free Spins
This feature activates when 3 wild symbols appear, granting 10 free spins. Any wilds that land during the round become sticky until the feature finishes.
Peacemaker Bonus
The Peacemaker Bonus starts when 4 wild symbols land. It doesn’t award a fixed number of free spins, but ends when a Cylinder symbol lands. In this mode, the Cylinder symbol has 5 chambers. Four chambers contain an x2 multiplier; the fifth chamber holds a multiplier of x3, x5, or x10, which is applied to any wins on the final spin.
Peacemaker Bonus Fully Loaded
Hitting 5 wilds in the base game triggers the Peacemaker Bonus Fully Loaded. It follows the same rules as the Peacemaker Bonus, with a few changes. When the Cylinder symbol lands, it has 6 chambers. Three chambers show an x2 multiplier; the other 3 chambers can display multipliers of x20, x50, or x500, which is applied to any wins on the final spin.
Buy Feature
Using the buy feature, players can purchase a spin with 3+ wilds for 80x the bet (RTP 96.6%), a spin with 4+ wilds for 160x the bet (96.62%), or a spin with 5 wilds for 750x the bet (RTP 96.82%).

Sticky Bandits Unchained: Slot Verdict
Sticky Bandits Unchained rides into town like a crazed gunslinger itching for trouble. Quickspin has aimed it at the tougher end of the Western slot scene by keeping the grim atmosphere from Sticky Bandits: Trail of Blood and boosting the maximum potential. The sticky theme is still very much present—hard to miss, really—and the return of big symbols (absent from the previous game) should be a welcome point for fans. The Colossal Wild isn’t as huge as earlier versions, yet it can still mesh with the rest of Sticky Bandits Unchained’s mechanics to deliver some exciting moments.
And there can be plenty of those moments, since Colossal Wilds remain sticky throughout all bonus rounds. Stickiness has long been a core selling point of the series, and it’s clearly on show here. How much value Colossal Wilds add can depend on their reel position, with placements further right generally being less appealing than those further left. During testing, the bonus rounds felt like a roller coaster—some great, some poor, and some wildly inconsistent.
A major factor in both the Peacemaker Bonus and the Peacemaker Bonus Fully Loaded, beyond the spread of sticky wilds, is the Cylinder symbol. You don’t want it to show up too early because it ends the feature; at the same time, it’s what unleashes a multiplier onto any wins on the final spin. As with the rest of Sticky Bandits Unchained, the Cylinder’s impact can swing dramatically, and at times the game may feel frustratingly stacked against you. It’s also difficult not to see the game as somewhat one-note, with the chamber mechanic being the main trick it relies on.
When Sticky Bandits Unchained is in full flow, though, it can stick its way to a 30,000x the bet win cap. It may not reinvent the wheel, but the strong potential, paired with the comeback of big symbols, sticky wilds, and the game’s fast-draw attitude, should be enough to catch the attention of seasoned players looking for Western-themed action.
