Each one is based on an earlier slot, ranging from RIP City and Cash Compass through to 2 Wild 2 Die. It’s that last title that matters here, because Snow Slingers brings back largely the same set of features, numbers, and core mechanics as its Western counterpart.

Instead of gunfights and chaos, Snow Slingers drops you into a cute, icy setting. On either side of the active grid stand two lovable penguins, Ruth and Rupert, wearing Christmas hats and scarfs in a seriously frosty scene. Beyond the ledge, the pair sit above snow-covered trees and mountains under a cold-looking sky. The gameplay may feel very familiar, but the atmosphere is worlds apart from 2 Wild 2 Die. Even the older game’s name feels a bit intimidating by comparison.

Snow Slingers is a line-wins slot, with 14 bet lines running across a 5×4 gaming matrix. Winning combinations must start from the left, and they can be boosted by potentially hefty multiplier values, as you’ll discover. From a math perspective, Snow Slingers sits at medium volatile and delivers an RTP of 96.29%, although three lower RTP setups are also available. Beyond a few renamed elements, the feature set hasn’t changed much. Below we break down Normal and Epic Snow-volver symbols, the Throw Snow! bonus, the Reap What You Snow bonus, and the bonus buy options.

Snow-volver Symbols

Regular and Epic Snow-volver symbols can land with 1 to 6 Snowballs loaded in the chamber. When a Snow-volver appears, its Snowballs are thrown at random grid positions. The first time a spot is hit by a regular Snowball, it sticks to the grid and transforms into a wild symbol. When a Snow position is by a Snowball, a random multiplier of x2 to x200 is added, turning it into a wild Snow Multiplier. Any further hits on a Snow Multiplier increases its value.

If a position is struck by an Epic Snowball, it instantly becomes a Snow Multiplier. In the base game and the You Reap What You Snow bonus, Epic Snow-volvers always fire before regular Snow-volvers. Once a Snow-volver runs out of Snowballs, it changes into a wild. If more than one Snow Multiplier contributes to the same win, their values are added together before being applied.

Throw Snow! Bonus

Hitting 3 FS scatter symbols activates this bonus. It runs on a grid that can land only Snow-volver symbols, Reload symbols, and non-paying symbols. The feature starts with 3 lives (spins), and these reset whenever a Snow-volver or Reload symbol lands. If all lives are used up without a reset, the bonus ends. It also finishes if every position becomes filled.

When a Snow-volver lands, the displayed Snowballs are thrown at random Gift Boxes above the reels rather than at the grid. When a Snowball hits a Gift Box, the multiplier shown is added or multiplied by the Snow-volver’s total value. Add values can be x2 to x500, while multiply values range from x2 to x20. Regular Snow-volvers stick to the grid, holding their value until the feature ends. Epic Snow-volver total multipliers are added to all sticky regular Snow-volvers and Reload symbols currently on the grid. All Epic Snow-volvers vanish on the following spin.

Reload symbols trigger after Normal Snow-volvers. They do this by collecting all the multipliers from the sticky regular Snow-volvers on screen and reloading them with 1-6 new Snowballs. Those Snowballs are then immediately thrown at the Gift Boxes. Reload symbols stick to the grid, keeping the multipliers they collected until the feature ends. When the bonus concludes, all visible Normal Snow-volver and Reload symbol values are paid out.

You Reap What You Snow

Landing 4 FS symbols in the base game triggers the Reap What You Snow feature with 10 free spins. This round plays much like the base game, except every Snow Multiplier is sticky and stays in place until the feature is over. Landing 2 FS symbols awards +2 free spins, while landing 3 FS symbols awards +4 free spins.

Buy Bonus

Within the bonus buy, players can choose from these options: BonusHunt FeatureSpins (2x the bet) – each spin 3x more likely to trigger a bonus game, Snow Day FeatureSpins (50x the bet) – each spin guaranteeing at least 3 Snow-volvers hit. FS symbols do not appear in this mode, Throw Snow! Bonus (100x the bet), or You Reap What You Snow Bonus (200x the bet).

Snow Slingers: Slot Verdict

Presentation clearly has a major impact on how enjoyable a slot feels, and reviewing Snow Slingers really underlined that. In many ways, Snow Slingers throws the same gameplay, features, and stats at players as 2 Wild 2 Die, yet the softer snowball theme and the charming cartoon penguins take the edge off. That doesn’t mean Snow Slingers turns into a slog—far from it—but the punchy, action-first feel of blasting away in 2 Wild 2 Die is definitely less pronounced here.

Then again, that’s hardly surprising. Snow Slingers is a Christmas slot, so snowballs suit the season far better than bullets and a flaming saloon pumping black smoke into the sky. There are also a few other tweaks. The RTP is marginally higher this time, which is always welcome, and the bonus buy prices have been changed, along with some of the buy conditions. One of the most notable differences, though, is that the ‘Best of’ bonus variants have been removed. You can no longer trigger or purchase the ‘Best of’ version to take the best outcome from 3 bonus rounds played back-to-back. Now it’s simply: trigger a bonus, take the payout, and move on.

Another interesting shift is that the max win has slid down an icy slope too, falling from 15,000x to 10,000x. Even so, that’s still a solid target and remains possible across all modes. Overall, Snow Slingers ended up as a cheerful festive slot worth trying during the Xmas season, though it doesn’t quite match the gritty appeal of the game it’s derived from.
