Sea of Spirits: Slot Overview
Only a few days after taking a look at Iron Bank 2—the fifth joint project from Relax Gaming and CasinoGrounds—we’re now heading into another streamer-community collaboration, this time with Push Gaming. The result is Sea of Spirits, a pirate-led slot that brings back the studio’s popular Coin Reveal mechanic, alongside a solid haul of additional features. With its grim, death-tinged ocean setting, daring players are invited to plunge into the depths to see how this new partnership performs, and whether the crew’s luck is truly in.
If your perfect pirate adventure involves bright skies, rolling waves, and a refreshing sea breeze, you may want to adjust expectations. Sea of Spirits is set deep below the surface, in a Davy Jones’ Locker-style underworld of murky green water, chained skeletons drifting in the gloom, and shattered wrecks. The soundtrack leans threatening too, matching a place where countless pirates’ ambitions seem to have ended badly. Tentacles and ghostly hints add to the sense of peril, yet it’s all delivered with a playful edge and strong production values—creating a weighty but entertaining Razor Shark / Razor Returns underwater feel, only swapping sharks for pirates.

Symbols drop onto a 6×4 matrix, paying from the leftmost reel using a 4,096 ways to win system, which can, in theory, expand up to 2,985,984 ways during the bonus rounds. Volatility is highly volatile, and with stakes ranging from $/€0.10 to $/€100 per spin, the RTP is set at 96.36%.
On the paytable, pirate-styled 10-A royals act as the lower-value symbols, while the bigger hitters are the compass, telescope, anchor, and pirate. Low symbols return 0.5x for 6 of a kind, while 6 matching premium symbols award 1x to 10x. Wilds, when they appear, replace all standard paying symbols.
Sea of Spirits: Slot Features

Sea of Spirits packs in a broad set of mechanics, including Frames, Activator symbols, the Coin Reveal feature, bonus and super bonus games, Overpowered Bonus Mode, and feature buys.
Frames
Frames are overlays that may land over any symbol on any spin, as long as that position doesn’t already contain a Frame. They do nothing until populated by an Activator symbol. In the base game, only Bronze Frames can appear. In free spins, Bronze, Silver, and Gold Frames can show up, each capable of revealing different outcomes depending on the Frame tier and the Activator used.
- Bronze Frames – Can reveal wilds, random pay symbols, or any Instant Prize symbol values.
- Silver Frames – Can reveal wilds split into two, pay symbols split into two, or Instant Prize values of 5x or more.
- Gold Frames – Can reveal wilds split into three, pay symbols split into three, or Instant Prize values of 25x or more.
In the base game, Frames on the reels nudge down by one position as the reels spin. This movement repeats on each spin until the Frames drop off the reels. Progress is tied to the bet.
Activator Symbols
The Activator symbols below can land in the base game as well as both bonus games, with a maximum of one per spin. Once activated, Activator symbols transform every Frame currently on the reels to reveal a corresponding prize. Their effects trigger after the initial win evaluation is complete:
- Symbol Sync Activator – The Activator position and all other positions containing a Frame are converted to a random paying symbol.
- Coin Activator – The Activator position and all other Frame positions trigger the Coin Reveal Feature.
- Wild Activator – The Activator position and all other Frame positions convert to a wild symbol.
If an Activator symbol lands on a spot without a Frame, it leaves behind a Frame to be used on the following spin.
Coin Reveal Feature
When the Coin Reveal feature triggers, each eligible position spins to reveal a different prize:
- Instant Prize Symbols – Multipliers of the bet with values of 1x to 10,000x
- Multiplier Symbols – Multiplies all Instant Prize symbols and Collectors by x2 to x10. It is then removed, causing its empty position to spin again.
- Collector Symbols – Collects the values of all other Instant Prize symbols, removing them and causing the empty positions to spin again.
- Scatter Symbols (base game only).
- Super Scatter Symbols (base game only).
- Upgrader Symbols (Coin Reveal Feature – Bonus Buy only) – Is available in the bonus or super bonus game. It upgrades a random number of upgradable Frames in view before Activator symbols are triggered. During the Coin Reveal Feature, it upgrades the Frame in that position, before being removed and its position spinning again.
Bonus Games
- Bonus Game – Hitting 3 scatters anywhere on the reels in the base game or Coin Reveal Feature awards 5 free spins. On the opening spin, 3 or more Bronze Frames are placed onto the reels. In the bonus and super bonus rounds, frames stay sticky for the full feature and do not nudge. Also, in both rounds, landing an Extra Spin symbol awards +1 spin.
- Super Bonus Game – Landing 2 scatters and 1 super scatter anywhere on the reels in the base game or Coin Reveal Feature triggers 8 super free spins. On the first spin, 3 Frames of varying tier levels are added to the grid. After the first spin, only Bronze Frames can appear.
- Overpowered Bonus Mode – Overpowered Bonus Mode may trigger at random at the start of either bonus feature. While active, the likelihood of landing a big win is increased.
Push Bet & Feature Buys
There are two Push Bets to choose from. Bonus Boost raises the stake by 50%, improving the chance to trigger the bonus game by 2.5x and the super bonus by 2x. The Mega Bonus Boost raises the stake by 400%, lifting the bonus trigger chance by 9.5x and the super bonus by 55x. Players can purchase the regular bonus for 100x or the super bonus for 500x the bet. The Bonus Chance Wheel is priced at 150x, and can land on either bonus round or a no-win segment. Finally, for 500x, the Coin Reveal feature across 24 positions can be bought.

Sea of Spirits: Slot Verdict
Sea of Spirits feels like another assured release from Push Gaming, combining the developer’s refined, proven formulas with community-focused input from CasinoGrounds. From the instant you’re dropped into the unsettling depths of Davy Jones’ Locker, it’s obvious this isn’t a bright, carefree pirate cruise. The mood is thick and atmospheric, with plenty of small touches supporting the dark maritime theme—echoing the design approach on the gameplay side, where a recognizable Push Gaming core is expanded with several supporting mechanics.
Among the more recognizable elements is the reveal mechanic, previously seen in Push titles like Big Bamboo and Regal Knights, to mention just a couple. The addition of Frames and the way they’re triggered adds a variation, though it can bring to mind Hacksaw Gaming’s Golden Squares idea from Le Bandit, Le King, and similar games. There’s a lot going on, and the systems can combine in ways that may create some exciting moments. For example, the ability for Upgrader symbols to improve Frames is a smart inclusion, as is how higher-tier Frames can split to effectively double or even triple the symbols they contain; in fact, several of the strongest moments in the review came from Frames revealing pay symbols. Coin Reveal runs can be just as nail-biting as in other games, especially when huge Coin values, Multipliers, and Collectors all contribute to the suspense.
A potential gripe for some hardened sea dogs is that Sea of Spirits’ 25,000x max win might have benefited from being higher, to match or surpass what games like Big Bamboo offer. Even so, it’s still a substantial target, and Sea of Spirits provides an appealing set of tightly linked tools to chase it. It may not reinvent the genre, but it does serve up a compelling mix of established mechanics and newer additions.
