Samurai’s Katana: Slot Overview
Samurai may have roamed the world from the 12th century until their abolition in the 1870s, but players can imagine this formidable warrior class returning while spinning Push Gaming’s slot Samurai’s Katana. Rather than dwelling in old feudal Japan, Samurai’s Katana is set in a cyberpunk reality. And on the subject of throwbacks, it also tips its hat to Push Gaming’s back catalogue, most notably by bringing back the Wild Stack behaviour seen in titles like Tiki Tumble.
Samurai’s Katana is essentially a cyberpunk rework with a modern edge. It’s packed with extra mechanics and gambling options, and its setting feels like present-day Japan—or Japan in the near future. Pink dominates the palette, echoing neon city glow, as the grid sits in front of a Torii framed by graffiti-covered storefronts and looming skyscrapers. The theme mixes tradition and tech, though it leans heavily into the new: tomorrow’s samurai hack corporate systems instead of enemies, and cut their way into bank accounts rather than bodies. ‘The sky above the port was the colour of television, tuned to a dead channel.’ William Gibson may have had Chiba City in mind, but the line suits Samurai’s Katana just as well.

Using the coins icon, players choose a stake from 10 c to $/€100 per spin – and there’s no Push Bet option this time around. Pressing spin sets the grid running: 5 reels with 4 symbols per reel and 20 paylines. Standard line wins pay left to right starting from the leftmost reel, while Coins pay in both directions. More on that below. Push Gaming lists Samurai’s Katana as high volatility, and the default RTP is 96.32% (when not using the gamble feature, 95.99% when using it).
SIM card-style J-A royals form the low-paying symbols, returning 1 times the bet for 5 matching ranks on a payline. The higher-paying set includes a gun, a roller shoe, a female character, and a male character. Landing 5 of the same high symbol pays 4 to 50 times the stake. The regular wild symbols and Wild Stacks replace all standard pay symbols. A 5-of-a-kind wild win pays 60 times your stake.
Samurai’s Katana: Slot Features

True to its blade-swinging style, Samurai’s Katana comes loaded with Wilds Stacks, Instant Prize symbols, Nudging Wilds, a gamble feature, free spins, and feature buys.
Wild Stacks & Nudging Wilds
Wild Stacks are wild symbols that land fully stacked on a reel. In the base game, wilds and Wild Stacks can appear on the three center reels; in free spins, they may land on any reel. Nudging Wilds activate whenever a Wild Stack hits the grid. Once it lands, the Wild Stack nudges one position downwards while the remaining reels spin normally. This continues until every Wild Stack symbol has dropped off the reels.
Instant Prize Symbol
Instant Prize symbols act as bet multipliers worth 1x to 1,000x the bet. They can land on the leftmost and rightmost reels in both the base game and free spins. Instant Prizes award when at least 2 wild symbols land anywhere on adjacent consecutive reels. Winning combinations can be formed both ways – left to right and right to left.
Scatter Symbol and Gamble Scatter Symbol
The scatter symbol appears only on the leftmost reel, while the gamble scatter symbol appears only on the rightmost reel. When the gamble scatter lands, it cycles through all potential free spins prizes on its position.
Gamble Feature
Hitting the scatter symbol and the gamble scatter symbol at the same time activates the gamble feature. Here, the prize shown by the gamble scatter can be gambled (or collected) for a shot at a bigger free spins reward or Wild Stacks. Available outcomes include x3 to x100 starting multipliers in the free spins round or 1-3 Wild Stacks. Any Wild Stacks won are played out in the base game. If the gamble lands on a no-prize segment, players walk away with nothing.

Free Spins
If the gamble scatter lands a free spins prize, free spins are awarded. The round begins with reels 2 and 4 fully stacked with wilds plus a starting multiplier that matches the free spins prize won. On every spin, the Wild Stacks nudge down 1 position. Each nudge fills the multiplier level meter – it takes 5 nudges to reach the next level. Throughout the feature, a multiplier boosts all wins, whether they come from pay symbols or instant prize symbol hits. The Level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 multiplier value is x1, x3, x5, x10, x25, or x100, respectively. Any extra wilds that land also nudge by 1. The final nudge down does not increase the multiplier.
Bonus Buy
In the feature buy menu, players can purchase the following:
- 2 Wilds Stacks – 18.8x the bet.
- 3 Wilds Stacks – 83x the bet.
- Random Wild Stacks – 30x the bet.
- Free spins with a starting x1 Multiplier – 51x the bet.
- Free spins with a starting x3 Multiplier – 118.5x the bet.
- Free spins with a starting x10 Multiplier – 488.9x the bet.
- Free spins with a starting random multiplier – 100x the bet.

Samurai’s Katana: Slot Verdict
This one feels like a Push Gaming nostalgia trip. Samurai’s Katana is stuffed with familiar elements that longtime fans will recognise from earlier releases. The clearest reference is Tiki Tumble, thanks to Wild Stacks that nudge downward across subsequent spins. There’s also a hint of Razor Shark in the mix, except here the stacks are wilds rather than mystery symbols. Even so, the gamble scatter/gamble feature delivers a similar reveal-style ride, as it scrolls through a range of possible rewards—or wipes you out entirely. Another classic Push Gaming staple is the instant prize coins, which appear regularly across the studio’s games. In this version, they don’t contribute much beyond paying when linked with at least 2 wild symbols, or effectively becoming a side mechanic. The top-end values are respectable, but they don’t connect strongly with the rest of the feature set, and lining them up can be awkward. Since the free spins Wild Stacks start on reels 2 and 4, for instance, they can’t automatically pay out if a Coin lands.
Overall, Samurai’s Katana isn’t among Push Gaming’s most inventive slots in terms of mechanics. It’s more of a return to proven ideas, taking components that have worked before and giving them another run at entertaining players. Don’t expect the kind of overwhelming spectacle you might get from Razor Returns or similar. That said, Samurai’s Katana is built for gamblers, with plenty of chances to take risks, push a free spins reward higher, and generally have a punt. It can be harsh when those chances end in nothing, but that’s the nature of gambling. When things click, Samurai’s Katana can carve out wins up to 10,000x the bet.
Just thinking out loud: has Push Gaming reached a point where it’s looking back as often as it’s looking ahead? Replaying past successes (in your head and on the reels), while also glancing sideways at what others are doing for a spark to keep moving forward? Maybe, maybe not—but Samurai’s Katana feels like a solid game that looks backward as much as it looks forward, a feeling strengthened by the whole “bringing samurai back” premise.
