Ryze: Slot Overview
If there’s one legendary beast that craves treasure and wealth even more than us greedy humans, it’s the dragon. That classic fantasy scene of a dragon sprawled atop a glittering pile of loot, scorching anyone bold enough to snatch a souvenir, is exactly the vibe ELK Studios taps into here. The game is called Ryze, a cluster pays slot built around a falling gravity effect plus a stack of extra mechanics. Two features that really jump out (for multiple reasons) are the multiplier wild system and the coin clusters—both because they can hit hard and because they feel familiar from elsewhere. We’ll break it all down shortly; for now, suspend disbelief, step up to a seriously wealthy Wyvern, and hope it’s willing to part with a slice of its stash.
Ryze is presumably the name of the dragon you meet in the opening animation, and it keeps watch over the treasure throughout play. You’ll see it stationed on the left of the active game area, which consists of 6 rows of symbols, with each row alternating between 5 or 6 symbols. That uneven layout ties directly into the gravity effect when symbols Avalanche, shifting left or right as they fall. It’s an idea ELK Studios has used before—on the Cygnus slots, for example. Visually, Ryze looks polished, and the audio backs it up with eerie strings, steady drum hits, and airy wind-instrument flourishes that make the sound design a real highlight.

Less romantic is the maths: Ryze runs on a highly volatile model and delivers an RTP of 94% whether you’re playing normally or using selections from the X-iter bonus buy menu. You can set your stake from 20 c to $/€100 per spin via the coins button, which opens the bet options. Since it’s a cluster pays game, a win is formed when at least 5 identical pay symbols (or coins) connect next to each other on the reels.
As for the pay symbols, you’ve got a bronze coin, a silver coin, a turquoise jewel-like item, a blue one, a purple one, and a gold object. Clusters of 5 OAK return 0.05 to 0.75 times the bet, while the top end comes from 15+ clusters paying 2 to 15 times the stake. Every symbol type involved in a win explodes, clearing space so new symbols can drop in. The Avalanche mechanic keeps rolling for as long as fresh wins continue to land.
Ryze: Slot Features

Ryze comes loaded with features, including the Avalanche mechanic, Sticky Multiplier Wilds, coin wins, burst symbols, a bonus game, a super bonus game, and 5 X-iter bonus buys.
Multiplier Wilds
A winning cluster made up of pay symbols only (coins don’t count) creates an x1 Multiplier Wild in one of the empty spaces left behind after the win. The Multiplier Wild increases its multiplier by +1 each time it’s included in a winning cluster, then moves to an empty position. Multiplier Wilds substitute for all symbols except bonus and burst symbols. If multiple Multiplier Wilds appear in the same winning cluster, their multiplier values are added together, and that total is applied to the payout. After the win is paid, the individual multipliers increase, then they merge into a single Multiplier Wild. When they merge, the multiplier values multiply each other.
Coin Wins
Coins display bet multipliers. When coins form a winning cluster, it pays the combined value, and then all winning coins merge into a single coin that shows the total value as the cluster is removed. Before the coin cluster payout is calculated, the values of all Multiplier Wilds involved in that winning coin cluster are added together and then used to multiply the coin win.
Burst
The Burst symbol transforms itself and every adjacent symbol into the same matching payout symbol or coins once no further wins or Avalanches are possible, and before free spins trigger or retrigger when relevant. This transformation does not impact bonus symbols, other burst symbols, coins, or Multiplier Wilds. If burst symbols are adjacent to each other, they convert all applicable neighbouring symbols into pay symbols or coins.
Bonus Game
When a bonus symbol drops down the reels and reaches a bonus key mould beneath the grid, it triggers 7 free spins. Multiplier Wilds are sticky between free spins. If a bonus symbol reaches the position below the grid that contains a super bonus key mould, it triggers 7 super free spins. In that mode, both coins and Multiplier Wilds are sticky between free spins. While you’re in a bonus game, if a bonus symbol reaches the bonus key mould, you receive +3 extra free spins. The bonus round upgrades into the super bonus round if the bonus symbol lands in a super bonus mould.
X-iter
Bonus modes can be launched via Ryze’s X-iter feature, including: Bonus Hunt – 2x the bet for more than triple the chance of triggering a bonus or super bonus game, Wild Concoction – 10x the bet for 1 spin with a number of Multiplier Wilds, Coin Burst – 25x the bet for a spin, guaranteeing a burst symbol on the first drop, and all burst symbols give coins, Bonus Game – 100x the bet, or Super Bonus Game – 500x the bet.

Ryze: Slot Verdict
Ryze feels like a mash-up of different DNA strands, with influences coming from multiple directions. From the ELK Studios side, it resembles a cousin of the Cygnus series, thanks to the clustering symbols, the left/right falling behaviour, and the way feature symbols need to reach a particular side of the reels to activate the bonus. Outside of ELK Studios, the parallels get even more intriguing—possible inspiration includes Slotmill’s Coin Cluster mechanic seen in Coin Quest 2, where winning coin clusters also combine into a single coin showing the total, and in its super free spins that coin sticks at the bottom of the reels. Another notable similarity is the Multiplier Wild, which closely mirrors the Fire Portal Wild feature in Pragmatic Play’s Fire Portals.
People say familiarity breeds contempt, but that doesn’t really apply to Ryze’s feature set—ELK Studios has clearly ‘borrowed’ a couple of strong ideas, and they become more appealing as you move from base game to free spins to super free spins. Merging coins can build up the potential for later coin payouts, and making them sticky in super free spins turns that mode into the one you really want to reach. Multiplier Wilds are arguably just as impressive here as they were in Fire Portals; the appeal isn’t only the stickiness, but also how Multiplier Wilds multiply their values when they merge into one. Symbol payouts are a bit on the low side, yet Ryze can still deliver wins up to 10,000x the bet and is capable of chaining together some genuinely satisfying sequences of events.
The main drawbacks are the familiar RTP worry some players may have, along with the potential ‘copycat’ feel. If you can overlook those points—or simply don’t care—then Ryze brings together a solid collection of gameplay treats, whether they’re entirely original to ELK Studios or not.
