Rome Fight for Gold the Tiger’s Rage: Slot Overview

Over the years, software provider Foxium has hopped between all sorts of themes for its slots. One setting it keeps circling back to is ancient Rome, and it returns to the Empire again with the online slot Rome Fight for Gold the Tiger’s Rage. This is not only the studio’s fourth trip to Roman territory, but also the fourth entry in the developer’s Rome Fight for Gold series. The previous titles have largely been Coin collecting Jackpot slots built around hold ‘n’ win-style bonus rounds, and Rome Fight for Gold the Tiger’s Rage doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, choosing instead to stay close to the established formula.

The backdrop hasn’t changed dramatically as the series has moved along. Players still take in the action like an emperor seated in a private box at the amphitheatre. Below lies the sandy arena where the clashes play out, surrounded by packed stands of roaring, blood-hungry spectators. And while it must have been an incredible show in its time, Tiger’s Rage nods to the spectacle without leaning into the gore. Still, there are plenty of gladiators, tigers, pounding drums, and Roman grandeur for fans of the theme to get into.

Tiger’s Rage takes place on a 5×4 gaming matrix, with wins evaluated across 40 paylines. Like the other entries, it’s classed as a medium volatile slot, and with stakes ranging from $/€0.20 to $/€10 per spin, the highest of the three RTP settings is 96.37%.

Paying symbols include 10-A royals, shields, masks, Helena, and Antonius. Landing five of a kind returns 1.5x to 10x the stake. Wilds replace all symbols except Coins and Collect symbols. They can appear on every reel, and a 5 wild combination pays 25x. Wild symbols can also generate Tiger Drops, which feed into the Tiger’s Rage meter.

Features here include Tiger’s Rage, a Collect feature, Jackpots, and bonus games.

Tiger’s Rage

Tiger Drops in the base game are collected by the Tiger’s Rage meter. Once the meter is filled, the Tiger’s Rage feature becomes available during the bonus the next time it triggers. When active, Tiger’s Rage can randomly trigger at the end of any bonus spin, adding an extra Coin to one that has already landed. The new Coin value is always higher than the original Coin’s value, up to 100x. It will trigger at least once per bonus game provided there is at least one Coin on the reels, and it resets the spin counter.

Collect Feature

If a Collect symbol lands on the leftmost or rightmost reel, all Coin values currently visible are awarded. Two Collect symbols can land at the same time. Bronze Coins pay 0.5x-5x, Silver 6x-15x, and Gold 20x-50x the bet. Coins can land on any reel.

Jackpots

Every Jackpot token that lands in the base game increases its matching Jackpot value. In the bonus game, collecting the required number of Jackpot tokens (as shown) awards the prize. The Mini pays 2x-10x, the Minor pays 10x-25x, the Maxi pays 50x-100x, the Major pays 100x-500x, the Mega pays 1,000x-5,000x, and the Grand pays 15,000x-25,000x.

Bonus Games

There are four bonus games – Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Imperial. Whenever a Coin is collected, there is a chance for the matching bonus game to start. Once Coins have been dropped into the appropriate cups, they are collected by the Imperial Bonus, which may be triggered by any Coin. When it begins, players receive 3 respins, and any newly landed symbols reset the spin count. Coins remain sticky. The Bronze, Silver, and Gold bonuses use bronze, silver, or gold Coins respectively, while the Imperial Bonus can contain all Coin types. Special symbols in the bonus games are:

  • Antonius Multiplier – adds x1 or x2 to the bonus game multiplier. The bonus game multiplier starts at x1 and is applied to the total Coin value. It does not apply to Jackopts.
  • Helena Extra Symbol – Raises the reset spin value by 1.
  • Red Mystery Symbol – Unveils Antonius Multiplier, Helena Extra Spin, or a Coin.
  • Immediate Multiplier – Boosts the value of existing Coins by x2 to x3.
  • Jackpot Maximiser – Pushes the bonus game Jackpots up to their maximum value for that bonus round only.
  • Purple Mystery Symbol – Reveals Immediate Multiplier, Jackpot Maximiser, or a Coin.

Rome Fight for Gold the Tiger’s Rage: Slot Verdict

As noted earlier, Foxium has refined the approach rather than tearing it up, which makes sense—by the fourth game in a series, there’s usually an audience that knows exactly what it’s here for. That likely includes collecting, because Rome Fight for Gold the Tiger’s Rage is packed with it. Coins are funnelled into the three cups above the reels, Coins are fed into the Imperial Bonus, values are pumped into the six Jackpots, and blood is channelled into the Tiger’s Rage. Once you start spinning, items are constantly being flung across the screen into their respective collection areas.

With a bit of luck, Tiger symbols will land and Coins will actually start flying into the balance, or one of the various bonus rounds will kick in. The bonuses are fine—somewhat straightforward—but the special symbols help keep things from feeling too flat by multiplying values, increasing the spin reset amount, and more. Much of what’s on offer feels very similar to Rome Fight for Gold Eternal Empire, so if that one worked for you (or didn’t), this will likely land the same way. Tiger’s Rage is the fresh element, adding another layer of collection in the base game as the meter absorbs Tiger Drops from the reels. It’s not a huge shake-up, but its ability to add value during the bonus round is a welcome plus.

The win potential is also a strong point at 25,000x the bet, although building the Grand Jackpot to its top level can take a while—unless the Jackpot Maximiser doesn’t pass you by. Overall, Rome Fight for Gold the Tiger’s Rage is a dependable entry in the Rome Fight for Gold lineup, even if it doesn’t stray far from what came before.
