From the story that suggests it’s fine to rob the rich and give to the poor—provided the rich are a bit unpleasant—comes Robin Sherwood Marauders. If you’ve tried this studio before, you’ll recognise it immediately as a Peter & Sons title. The team has clearly found its ‘voice’, delivering distinctive slots with a look that’s instantly identifiable. That said, while the presentation feels very individual, the feature set isn’t quite as forward-thinking. If you fancy lurking in the woods and relieving tax collectors of their coins, read on.

The last P&S title we reviewed on Yggdrasil’s YGS Program was Johnan Legendarian, and you can spot some familiar visual DNA here too. It’s most noticeable in the way characters are drawn and in the slightly stop-motion feel of the animations—like how winning symbols burst into a scatter of leaves when they disappear. Behind the 6-reel, 4,096 ways playfield, Sherwood Forest looks a little less welcoming than you might expect. The sky sits as a flat turquoise backdrop, while sharp, fortress-like trees sway like spiked stakes in the wind. On mobile, switching to portrait mode might help hide them. The soundtrack, however, leans into medieval renaissance vibes and creates a cosy, wholesome mood. It’s easy to picture a stone hall in winter filled with minstrels, roaring fires warming a huge banquet room, heavy wooden tables stacked with roasted meats, barrels of ale, and everyone simply having a good time.

Joining the celebration works on any device, with stakes ranging from 10 p/c up to $/€20. Alongside the similar Johnan-style visuals, several key stats are close too, including the 96.10% RTP. Volatility is high, although in theory players may see a win around every five spins or so, with a couple of features popping up along the way.

The symbol set features four low-paying card suits—clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades—followed by the more characterful mid and high pays. These include clubs, an old-time guitar, arrows, swords, the Sherriff of Nottingham, and Robin as the top-paying symbol. Appearing on reels 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, the ‘W’ wild substitutes for any regular symbol to help complete winning combinations.

It’s a fun slot overall, carried largely by its charming symbols and soundtrack—though the backdrop is less striking this time around. Robin Sherwood Marauders may not feel as unexpectedly fresh within a crowded slot theme as Johnan Legendarian did, but it remains an easy, pleasant play.

Even though the studio has built a strong identity, the small drawback is that Peter & Sons has played things fairly safe on the feature front. Johnan essentially came down to a creatively presented ‘book of’ format, while Robin Sherwood Marauders focuses on landing free spins with expanding full-reel wilds. It’s enjoyable, but it would be great to see Peter & Sons push into more inventive mechanics in future. The visual style is already nailed down; more original gameplay would make the team stand out even more.

One more point that could frustrate some players is the way the win multiplier resets between free spins.
