Rise of Atlantis 2: Slot Overview
Type “why do movie sequels suck” into a search engine and you’ll find plenty of takes on what some call “sequelitis.” Of course, not every follow-up disappoints. An IMDB poll has even rated certain sequels above their originals, including Terminator 2, The Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, The Godfather Part II, and Aliens. With online slots, sequels often do particularly well. Not every time, but titles like Dead or Alive 2, Money Train 2, and Coin Quest 2 show how developers can revisit a strong concept, take player feedback on board, and deliver something that outshines the first release.
With that optimism, we dive into Rise of Atlantis 2, Blueprint Gaming’s follow-up to Rise of Atlantis (2023). The first game was, frankly, very close to Pragmatic Play’s hit Gates of Olympus—both are scatter-paying slots built around an Ancient Greek deity and an additive multiplier mechanic. Those core ideas return in Rise of Atlantis 2, along with a handful of fresh touches that broaden the gameplay. Once again, Poseidon and his trident hover beside the reels in an underwater setting that resembles Atlantis before it rises. Poseidon-themed slots are nothing new, but Blueprint Gaming has delivered another attractive version. It’s familiar scenery, yet it’s also clean and easy on the eyes.

Rise of Atlantis 2 gives players multiple ways to play. You can choose a standard stake of 20 p/c to $/€20 per paid spin, enable an Extra Bet, or use one of three feature buys. In regular play, the default RTP is 96.01%; it nudges up to 96.03% with the Extra Bet active and drops to 96% when purchasing any of the feature buys. Turning on the Extra Bet raises the stake by 25% and improves the chance of triggering a bonus. With medium-high volatility, gameplay runs on a 6×5 grid, which can expand to 6×8 under certain conditions.
As noted, Rise of Atlantis 2 is a scatter paying slot. In practice, that means you win when at least 8 matching symbols land anywhere on the reels. Winning symbols disappear and the remaining symbols tumble down to fill the gaps. Once no further wins are created, the cascade chain stops. The sequel largely brings back the same symbol set: 4 gemstones as the low pays, then a column, a pot of riches, a trident, a crown, and Poseidon as the premium symbols. In terms of payouts, an 8-9 OAK result pays 0.25 to 10 times the bet, while a 12+ scatter hit returns 2 to 50 times the bet. Rise of Atlantis 2 does not include a wild symbol.
Rise of Atlantis 2: Slot Features

Rise of Atlantis 2 includes Rising Multipliers, Poseidon’s Call, free spins, and the bonus buy.
Rising Multipliers
In the base game, Rising Multipliers can activate and land on the reels in random positions, showing a value of x2 to x100. When the reels stop producing new winning combinations, every Rising Multiplier currently visible is added together and applied to the total win. After wins are resolved, Rising Multiplier symbols move one step up from where they are, continuing until they eventually leave the grid.
Poseidon’s Call
On any spin, if a winning cascade occurs in the base game, the following spin has a chance to increase the grid by +1 additional row of symbols. If the next spin also produces a winning cascade, then the spin after that can again expand the grid by +1 row, continuing this way up to a maximum of 8 rows high. If a spin produces no win, the grid returns to its default 6×5 size. If free spins are triggered while the grid is expanded, the bonus round starts from the triggering reel height.
Free Spins
In the base game, hitting 4, 5, or 6 scatters awards 12, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. During free spins, Rising Multipliers on the grid increase their values each time they move up a position. As in the base game, once no further wins land, the combined total of all Rising Multipliers on screen is applied to the win. In free spins, Rising Multipliers can reach values of up to x1,000.
Following any winning spin, an extra row of symbols is added to the grid, and it stays in place until the feature ends. The grid can still grow only up to 6×8. The feature can also be extended by landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters, which add 5, 7, 10, or 15 free spins, respectively.
Buy Bonus
The bonus buy menu offers three separate choices. These are:
- Regular free spins for 125x the bet.
- Ultimate Rise – 375x the bet for free spins with enhanced multipliers.
- Poseidon’s Fury – 625x the bet for free spins with enhanced multipliers and max grid active.

Rise of Atlantis 2: Slot Verdict
As sequels go, Rise of Atlantis 2 feels like a step up from the original. That’s not to say Rise of Atlantis was weak—Blueprint Gaming borrowed a proven blueprint in Gates of Olympus and added enough of its own flavor to produce a solid scatter-pays slot with a Greek theme. With Rise of Atlantis 2, the studio pushes the idea further, creating a game that separates itself more clearly from the similar titles competing in the same space.
The additions include Poseidon’s Call, higher multiplier potential, and the extra-row mechanic in free spins when wins land. Since scatter wins depend on collecting as many matching symbols as possible, a larger grid is generally an advantage, at least in theory, because it offers more room for symbols to appear. The impact is slightly limited, though, because the top win tier remains the same as in the previous game at 12+ symbols, and the payout values are unchanged as well. Yes, the expanded board can still help players land bigger scatter counts, but a higher-value tier could have made that expansion feel even more rewarding. Where the sequel really ramps things up is Rising Multiplier potential. Previously capped at x500, Rise of Atlantis 2 lifts this to x1,000, which can seriously inflate scatter wins. At the top end, Rise of Atlantis 2 has a maximum win of 10,000x.
All that said, leaving the technical nitpicking aside, the concept of a scatter-pays slot on an expanding grid—paired with the possibility of four-digit multipliers—is simply a lot of fun for fans of this format. Anyone who enjoyed Rise of Atlantis the first time around, or the many similar games out there, will probably enjoy Rise of Atlantis 2 as well—quite possibly even more.
