ReefPop: Slot Overview

Stat-wise, it’s largely business as usual. The game runs with a theoretical return of 95.5% and a highly volatile math model. As before, that’s the full symbol set in ReefPop, since it skips wilds and doesn’t include any kind of scatter.

ReefPop: Slot Features

As with most PopWins titles, the natural starting point is the PopWins engine itself. In practice, winning symbols pop off the grid and are replaced with two new symbols, which increases the height of the reel. This chain continues until no further win is created. In the base game, reels can expand up to 6 symbols tall.

Unlimited Free Spins

Once all 6 reels reach their maximum height in the base game, free spins are awarded. During free spins, reels can now grow to a maximum of 8 high max. Between spins, the reels drop back to the lowest achieved reel height. The feature starts with three free spins, and any win refills the spin counter. There is also a global multiplier that begins at x1 and does not reset between free spins. After wins are paid, each spin increases the multiplier by 1. In addition, when the golden shark symbol appears in free spins, it carries a multiplier equal to the number of golden sharks in view. Gamble Wheel

Before the free spins round begins, players can choose to gamble on the Gamble Wheel. A successful gamble increases the starting number of reels from 4 to 5, and winning a second time increases them from 5 to 6. If the gamble is lost at any point, play returns to the base game.

ReefPop: Slot Verdict

When PiggyPop launched, it felt like it was around the eighth PopWins game. Now it’s closer to 80. Alright, that’s a huge exaggeration, but there are certainly enough PopWins slots out there that a reskin can seem a bit hard to justify. That said, plenty of studios recycle, clone, or repackage previous ideas—it’s part of the industry, so this isn’t about calling AvatarUX out specifically. Still, if ReefPop had introduced something that PiggyPop didn’t, it might not have come across as quite so unnecessary.

Leaving the reskin discussion to one side, though, PiggyPop was a genuinely fun AvatarUX release, and ReefPop delivers the same enjoyment by default. Over time, the studio has widened its range, tackling themes from zombies to Egyptian to hip hop and plenty more. With fish slots being in high demand, it’s hardly shocking to see them dive into an underwater setting. ReefPop isn’t really a fishing game, so there’s no collecting money symbols; instead, it leans into building potentially enormous ways to win, a win multiplier that climbs with every free spin, and an extra multiplier tied to its top-paying symbol. It’s straightforward in certain respects, yet it holds attention, with a key objective being to keep landing wins in free spins—not only for payouts, but to keep the feature alive and stop it from ending.

The last consideration is max win, and since PiggyPop offered around 11,000x the bet, it’s a reasonable assumption that ReefPop can reach a similar level too. It’s not the largest figure in the PopWins line-up—by quite a distance, in fact—but it’s still a meaningful total, and a nice final topping to everything else ReefPop brings to the table.
