Red Hot Riches: Slot Overview

If you’re going to hunt for “riches,” you may as well go for the red-hot variety. That seems to be the idea behind Alchemy Gaming’s online slot Red Hot Riches. The studio hasn’t reinvented the wheel here, though, as a lot of what’s on offer is carried over from an earlier title, Anvil & Ore. As a result, familiar elements return, including Rolling Reels, Echo Rolls, Upsizer, Upsizer Buy, free spins, and the Upsizer Wheel—just presented in a completely different theme.

Instead of digging underground and smashing rocks in search of valuable metals, Red Hot Riches shifts the action above ground into a quirky, club-like setting. The background animation behind the grid—almost like drifting through space—looks slick, and the moving spotlights help sell the nightclub vibe. With a bit of imagination, you could picture yourself as a VIP in some high-end hotspot where celebrities come to see and be seen. Or maybe that’s just the pulsing soundtrack and all the flashing lights doing their thing.

Red Hot Riches slot – base game

Red Hot Riches runs on a 5×5 aligned gaming board with 3,125 ways to win. It sits extremely close to Anvil & Ore, though its default RTP is fractionally lower at 96.25%, hinting that the maths may have been tweaked. With very highly volatile gameplay, this RTP version comes with a theoretical hit rate of 21.82%, and players can choose stakes from 30 p/c to $/€42.

Wins are paid for combinations of 3 to 5 matching symbols, and there are 10 standard paying symbols available. The lower-value symbols are the 10 to A card ranks, paying 2 to 2.8 times the bet for five of a kind, while the higher regular symbols return 3.5 to 7.5x the bet for a 5-of-a-kind hit with bells, coins, gold bars, gold bars and coins, or dollar sign icons. Wilds can appear on every reel too. They substitute for any regular paying symbol, or they can form their own wins worth up to 15 times the stake for five wilds.

Red Hot Riches: Slot Features

Red Hot Riches comes packed with Rolling Reels, Echo Rolls, Upsizer, Free Upsizer Max, Upsizer Buy, and Free Spins + Free Upsizer Tokens.

Rolling Reels

With Rolling Reels, winning symbols are removed from the grid whenever they form a winning way. New symbols then drop in from above to fill the empty spaces. Rolling Reels keep chaining as long as fresh wins continue to land.

Echo Roll

Following any win, the Echo Roll has a chance to activate and deliver another guaranteed win. Any blank spots are populated with high, low, or wild symbols.

Upsizer

Upsizer Coins appear randomly during the base game and are collected when they land. As you gather Upsizer Coins, you unlock stronger free spins modifiers along the Upsizer Trail beside the reels. The trail includes free spins levels of 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 free spins, plus max Rolling Wins multipliers of x10, x20, and x50, along with 1 or 2 guaranteed Echo Rolls during free spins.

Free Upsizer Max

Hitting 3 or more scatters in the base game awards 1 Upsizer Max Coin. Once 5 Upsizer Max Coins have been collected, free spins trigger at the maximum Upsizer level.

Upsizer Buy

Before the free spins round starts, players can buy higher Upsizer modifiers. The price for doing this is shown on-screen.

Free Spins + Free Upsizer Tokens

Landing 3 scatters in the base game activates free spins at the current Upsizer Trail level. During free spins, every Roll adds +1 to the win multiplier, and that multiplier does not reset until the feature ends. The top multiplier is x10, x20, or x50 depending on the Upsizer level. Each scatter in free spins grants +1 free spin, and if more than 3 scatters land, each extra scatter awards an x10 win. After the free spins finish, the Free Upsizer Wheel spins and can award up to 150 Upsizer coins.

Red Hot Riches: Slot Verdict

The Games Global studio network clearly loves revisiting and repurposing mechanics, and Red Hot Riches is a strong example of that approach. It isn’t a perfect pixel-for-pixel, number-for-number clone of Anvil & Ore, but it still ends up feeling extremely similar. For example, the RTP is slightly different, and a look through the rules shows that Red Hot Riches awards bet multipliers rather than Upsizer Coins when extra triggering scatters land, and it doesn’t include a bonus buy either. Beyond those points, it’s essentially the same package—just delivered with a more dancefloor-friendly style.

That means the same general pros and cons apply here too. You’re getting a proven blend of Rolling Reels, Echo Spins, and a free spins feature that can be adjusted—or pushed to the maximum—if you’re willing to pay for it. Alternatively, you might simply build things up naturally in the base game by collecting enough Upsizer Coins to reach an appealing free spins setup without spending extra. There’s also the possibility of landing 5 Upsizer Max Coins as well. As with the earlier game, the win potential caps at 5,000x the bet, which is a long way from the huge (advertised) max win tied to Aquanauts, another Alchemy Gaming release that shares some mechanics and ideas—though it’s possible we’ll still be waiting to see that monster win land by the time this review is published.

One thing that may sway players is whether Red Hot Riches and its funky atmosphere, or Anvil & Ore with its mining theme, resonates more with them. In practice, there’s not much separating the two, which is great news for anyone who enjoys Alchemy Gaming’s previous titles, but a bit underwhelming for those hoping for something more original.
