Rainforest Magic (Play’n GO): Overview
Play’n GO doesn’t appear to be easing off at all—if anything, the release pace looks even faster. In September alone, the studio has four titles lined up; Hugo’s Adventure, Inferno’s Joker, Mission Cash, and Demon. That works out to a fresh game every Thursday of the month! Still, Play’n GO isn’t the only one ramping things up. They’re simply adapting to an industry where a game’s shelf life can be shorter than a dragonfly’s, and where players lose interest and move on after just a couple of days.
Even though the Swedish developer has tended to play it safe—often leaning on a familiar blueprint—it has served them well. A good example is Rainforest Magic. There’s nothing particularly original or groundbreaking here, and it’s unlikely to become a timeless classic, but it’s a dependable slot that confidently sticks to the proven approach that has helped make Play’n GO one of the most sought-after providers around.
With Rainforest Magic, Play’n GO opens a view into the Central American jungle. Built on a 5×3 format and connected through 25 fixed paylines, it includes mystery symbols that turn into random matching symbols. The main attraction, though, is the free spins round where as many as four mystery reels can show up. With high volatility, you can spin from 25 cents and €100 on any device, including Android and iOS.
Even without any direct references to Mayan culture, the game clearly carries a Mesoamerican vibe. The reels sit inside a stone frame designed to resemble an ancient temple, surrounded by thick greenery, shimmering leaves, and bright flowers. It may not be the most jaw-dropping backdrop we’ve seen in a slot, but the presentation is still nicely put together. On the reels, you’ll find 4 traditional card suit symbols along with higher-paying jungle animals. These include green snakes, yellow toucans, parrots, and blue frogs. The banana-loving monkey is the top payer, awarding 20 times your stake for five across a full payline. The jaguar acts as the wild, appears on all reels, and substitutes for every other paytable symbol. It also pays 40 times your stake for landing five of a kind.
Rainforest Magic (Play’n GO): Features

As we’ve seen lately—Thunderkick’s Raiders of the Storm being one example—Mystery Symbols are showing up in more and more slots from a range of studios, a mechanic originally popularised by Blueprint Gaming. Rainforest Magic includes them too. Whenever the question mark symbols land in view, every instance of that symbol will change into a random matching symbol, wild included.
Activating the Free Spins round doesn’t rely on scatter symbols, but instead on wilds. If 3 or more wilds appear anywhere in view during the base game, the Guns N’ Roses hit Welcome to the Jungle will start blasting and…no, not really—though that would be pretty fun, wouldn’t it. What actually happens is you enter the free spins feature, and the number of starting spins depends on how many wilds landed on the triggering spin: 3 wilds award 6 free spins, and each extra wild adds 2 more spins, up to a maximum of 30 spins.
Before the round begins, you’ll pick one of four flowers. This determines how many Mystery Reels will be active for the feature, anywhere from 1 – 4. As you play, these mystery reels change position on every spin and then reveal random matching symbols once the reels stop. If you succeed in covering all reels with wilds, you’ll collect 1000 times your stake. Achieve that five times within the same round and you’ll hit the maximum win of 5000x.
Rainforest Magic (Play’n GO): Verdict
As noted earlier, Rainforest Magic is very much a classic Play’n GO-style release. The theme and feature set may be different on the surface, but if you’ve played plenty of slots from this provider, you’ll likely recognise the familiar maths underneath. That doesn’t make Rainforest Magic a poor game—it’s actually a solid one. It’s simply not a particularly thrilling launch for experienced players who’ve encountered this kind of setup, or close variations of it, many times before. Will we play it? Absolutely. But, much like the dragonfly, this slot’s time in the spotlight will probably be short and intense.
