RagingPop: Slot Overview
Still riding a wave of popularity, RagingPop is—yes—the eleventh PopWins title to come out of Avatar UX’s workshop. For RagingPop, the developer has moved on from the ‘land of the rising sun’ where we last met them in MonkeyPop and headed somewhere equally atmospheric. This time the action plays out across Africa’s rolling grasslands, a familiar slot setting, complete with dynamic reels, expanding rows, a growing number of ways, and the chance of sizeable random multipliers thrown into the mix.
It may not grab the eye quite as instantly as MonkeyPop, but RagingPop is still a polished-looking release that packs in the kind of scenery this style is known for. Expect natural touches like a flowing stream, sunlit grass, acacia trees, far-off mountains, and mostly clear blue skies. There’s also a neat weather twist: once the bonus round kicks in, the clouds break and heavy rain pours down. It’s a small change, yet any fresh detail is welcome. Overall, the game feels premium and highlights how much the developer has progressed in a relatively short time.
If you judged it as a safari, you might be let down by the lack of wildlife in the background; thankfully, plenty of creatures do appear on the game’s 6×4 reel set. That’s the starting grid for each base spin, though it can expand up to 7 rows high through PopWins in free spins or via the Raging Rhino feature, lifting the win ways from 8,196 to 235,298 at maximum. The total can climb so high because matching symbols pay left to right and right to left, beginning from the relevant outer reel. Bets run from 20 p/c to $/€40 per spin, and this highly volatile slot is set with an RTP of 96.34%.
Put the word ‘raging’ in a slot title and rhinos are rarely far away. In RagingPop, the rhino is the top-paying symbol, awarding 15x the bet for six of a kind. Below it sit the premium symbols—crocodiles, buffalo, and leopards—returning 5-6.25x the bet for six of a kind. Next come the mid-tier icons (butterflies, fish, and birds), worth 3 times the stake for six, while the lowest-paying symbols are J-A card ranks, paying 1-1.5x for six of a kind. Finally, wilds assist in forming winning ways by substituting for any pay symbol, though note that wilds only show up during free spins.
RagingPop: Slot Features
At the heart of RagingPop is Avatar UX’s signature step in modern slot design—the PopWins mechanic. Somewhat controversially, in RagingPop this mechanic only appears during the free spins bonus. In free spins, whenever a winning combination hits, each winning symbol is removed and replaced by 2 new symbols, which increases the reel height. If that creates another win, the cycle continues, with reels able to expand up to 7 positions high at most.
Raging Rhino
In either the base game or the bonus, the Raging Rhino feature can randomly activates. When it triggers, the reels grow to 5, 6, or 7 symbols tall, and a multiplier is generated and applied to any win. The multiplier can reach as high as x500.
Free Spins
Hitting 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatter symbols grants 10, 15, 20, or 30 free spins. The reels begin at 4 symbols high and can extend to 7 high thanks to PopWins; however, they return to their starting height at the start of each new free spin. On top of that, for every 10 consecutive free spins, the reels grow by +1 symbol in height, and they remain at that size for the rest of the feature. Before the free spins start, players can also choose to gambling their win for more spins on the gamble wheel. The gamble option has multiple steps, giving a chance to land 15, 20, 25, or 30 free spins. If you lose on the first step, you’re sent back to the base game, but losing at later stages still starts the bonus with fewer free spins, as shown on the wheel.
Buy Bonus
Where available, players may purchase a standard free spins trigger for 100x the bet (with the option to gamble it for more), or they can pay 500x the bet to be awarded 30 free spins immediately.
RagingPop: Slot Verdict
Avatar UX often hits its stride when it leans into classic themes—think CherryPop or PapayaPop—and RagingPop fits that pattern well. It looks the part and plays as smoothly as anything the studio has produced so far. From a gameplay angle, there are a couple of curveballs that players may interpret either way. The biggest surprise is that PopWins isn’t present in the base game. That’s unusual—like trying a Megaways slot without Reactions for the first time. It doesn’t really spoil the fun, though, and after a handful of spins, experienced players should settle in.
It’s not entirely featureless, either, since Raging Rhino can appear at any time, but without PopWins, RagingPop’s base game is among the quietest in the lineup. If you’re someone who enjoys Megaways-style play without cascades, then Raging Rhino may be a good stepping-stone into PopWins slots. The trade-off is that, more than most PopWins entries, RagingPop leans heavily on its free spins bonus. That’s where the action can ramp up, with wins potentially reaching the cap of 20,000x the bet. One extra note: RagingPop includes one of the more player-friendly gamble wheels Avatar UX has put together. In many cases, a failed gamble wipes out all free spins, but here, from the second level onward, losing can still leave you with a smaller free spins award.
If you want a PopWins game packed to the brim with every possible popping twist, RagingPop likely won’t be your first pick. Other entries in the series simply offer more frequent popping potential. Still, it may reflect a more mature approach from Avatar UX—less need to impress by cramming in every firework. After this and MonkeyPop, it seems the studio is placing more emphasis on theme and presentation rather than going feature-heavy. So while RagingPop may not be the absolute peak of PopWins, it shows Avatar UX pushing toward a cleaner, more refined overall experience.
