It’s hard not to suspect Max Win Gaming drew inspiration—whether intentionally or not—from Play’n GO’s anime favourite Moon Princess when putting Purr Power together. The title logo font feels familiar, the soft, cloudy backdrop has a similar vibe, and the way symbols drop onto the grid also echoes it. That said, Purr Power doesn’t build out its world to the same extent as Moon Princess. There are no princesses or other on-screen companions in the base game, which can make it feel a bit empty, and much of the session carries an “okay, but not fully realised” impression.

Purr Power runs on a 5-reel, 6-row grid and uses a scatter-pays system for wins. Hitting 8 or more identical pay symbols anywhere on the matrix forms a winning cluster. Those winning symbols are removed, letting new symbols fall into place as cascades, which can then create additional wins. This chain continues until a drop produces no fresh combination. The game uses a highly volatile model, with a default RTP of 95.68% and bet sizes ranging from 20 c to $/€20 per spin.

There are nine paying symbols in the base game (and no wilds). These include 5 round items featuring yellow, blue, green, purple, or pink gems, plus heart symbols in green, purple, pink, and red. For 8-9 of a kind, payouts range from 0.3 to 10 times the bet, while landing 12+ awards 3 to 50 times the bet.

Beyond the cascade mechanic, the base game doesn’t add any extra twists. The real change happens when the Collector Bonus is triggered, as Purr Power shifts into hold ‘n win play, introducing sticky multiplier symbols, activator symbols, and special card effects.

Collector Bonus

Hitting 4 scatter symbols in the base game activates the Collector Bonus. It begins with 3 spins, and every symbol that lands resets the counter back to 3. During the feature, multiplier symbols and activator symbols can drop and interact with feature symbols, shown as cards positioned above the grid. Multiplier symbols appear with values of 1x to 5x the bet.

Activator Symbols & Special Cards

Red, green, or purple activator symbols may land, which then trigger the power of matching coloured cards displayed above the grid. There are 7 different special cards, each offering a distinct effect:

• The Payer – takes one of the multipliers from the reels and adds it to all multiplier symbols.
• The Booster – increases the value of one of the multiplier symbols.
• The Collector – collects all multiplier values from the reels and adds them to its activator.
• The Doubler – doubles all multiplier values on the reels.
• The Gunner – doubles the value of up to 4 symbols, 1 to 3 times each.
• The Mentalist – multiplies the lowest and the highest multiplier values together.
• The X-er – reveals a multiplier of x2 to x10 and multiplies up to 3 symbols with it.

If a multiplier symbol lands in every position on the reels, the feature ends and pays an extra 1,000x the bet. If not, the bonus finishes after 3 non-winning spins or once the win cap is reached. Purr Power may include a feature buy option that allows the bonus round to be purchased for a fixed price.

Pure Power: Slot Verdict

Purr Power is largely quiet in the base game because Max Win Gaming chose not to include any modifiers or bonus mechanics there beyond cascades. As a result, much of the time is spent watching Moon Princess-like symbols drop into a Moon Princess-like setting (but without the princesses), occasionally forming wins and setting off tumbles. The scatter approach works well enough, but at the time of writing it’s also a very common mechanic, and it doesn’t have the same distinctive touch as Moon Princess, where wins connect horizontally and vertically like a symbol crossword, with drops aiming to clear the screen and frequent bursts of princess-themed powers. In Purr Power, it’s more a straightforward loop of scatter, tumble, scatter, tumble, and repeat.

That creates a sharp divide between the base game and the bonus, and once free spins finally arrive, Purr Power gets room to show a bit more identity. This is mainly thanks to the character-themed cards above the reels, ready to activate their abilities when matching coloured activator symbols land. Overall, it’s implemented effectively. It’s not a must-play hold ‘n win feature, but with a win cap of 5,000x, big outcomes are at least theoretically on the table. The starting multiplier values aren’t especially high, though, so meaningful boosts from the special cards will probably be needed to produce anything truly eye-catching.

These days there’s no shortage of anime slots to choose from. Play’n GO continues to cover ground with Moon Princess variations, while Pragmatic Play has its own line of Princess titles. If you want something with more combat energy, Octoplay’s Eternal Clash could also fit. Purr Power, at best, sits alongside those games, though it arguably lands a step below. The anime-flavoured hold ‘n win concept may appeal, but the plain base game ultimately limits how far Purr Power can go.
