Pirots 2: Slot Overview
After squawking their way across the seven seas in ELK Studios’ slot Pirots, the feathered crew returns in a sequel set somewhere entirely different. Pirots 2 drops the Fearful Four into a world where dinosaurs still roam and now and then wreak havoc on the gaming grid. Plenty of the original game’s core ideas are back, but there are fresh additions too, so it feels familiar in spirit while playing differently in practice. The first Pirots offered a truly distinctive, if polarising, approach to spinning; the big question is whether the follow-up will bring players together or push opinions even further apart.
So, did the Fearful Four actually time-travel for Pirots 2? Dinosaurs suggest they did, yet the setting also features a speeding roller coaster track weaving through the trees, conveniently away from the dinos below. Maybe it’s more of a Jurassic Park-style scenario where science has resurrected the beasts by mixing ancient DNA with modern life. The soundtrack hints at that idea too, occasionally echoing the sweeping feel of Jurassic Park’s film score. Audio also ramps up the suspense, syncing nicely with the on-screen chaos, and players should be ready for potentially lengthy chains of action that feel part online slot, part Pac-Man. If that already sounds odd, it only gets stranger.

ELK Studios is known for game grids that shift, stretch, and evolve, and Pirots 2 comes with one of those setups. It begins as a 6×6 gaming panel, transparent so symbols appear to hang in mid-air, and it can expand up to 8×8. Built on a medium-high volatile math model, the game delivers 94% RTP whether you stake 20 c to $/€100 per spin or activate any of the X-iter options.
The win method in Pirots 2 is unusual. As symbols land on the grid at the start of a spin, 4 bird characters also drop in, coloured blue, green, purple, and red. These birds act as collector symbols, gathering same-coloured amber pay symbols as well as any feature symbols. Neighbouring birds may switch places, but only when doing so can unlock new symbol clusters. In addition, if 3 or 4 birds form a horizontal or vertical line, they fight, which removes amber symbols, collecting scatters, coins, eggs, or red buttons. Once the fight is over, the birds are redropped, followed by a symbol refill.
To collect, birds must be orthogonally adjacent to the matching coloured symbols, and they move in descending order based on symbol payout. Individual amber symbols can be upgraded through payout levels, maxing out at level 7. At the lowest level, the four amber symbols pay 0.05 to 0.1x the bet each, rising up to 10 to 50 times the bet each at level 7. Birds keep collecting until no further collections are possible, meaning they can move multiple times within a single spin, and whenever a feature symbol is collected, its related feature activates.
Pirots 2: Slot Features

On the feature side, Pirots 2 includes a collection meter, several special symbols, a free spins round, and X-iter feature buy choices.
Collection Meter
The collection meter is positioned above the grid and tracks both collected amber symbols and the wild symbol count. It keeps running until the birds can’t gather anything else. When the meter fills up, one pending feature symbol release is added. You can stack up to 3 feature symbol releases, and they’re all granted together. A feature symbol release changes a number of random amber symbols into random feature symbols. This happens before an egg hatches, before the meteor hits, as part of the first free drop, or when birds are unable to collect more symbols. Feature symbols may also randomly land in the reels. Here’s what can appear, along with what each does when collected:
- Upgrade symbols – increases the payout level of an amber symbol by 1 to 3 steps.
- Upgrade all – increases the payout level of all 4 amber symbols by 1 to 3 steps.
- Coins – pays the shown value when collected. The MAX WIN coin grants the remaining amount required to reach the maximum win.
- Wild – replaces any amber symbol at their current respective payout level.
- Red Button – sets off a meteor strike that blasts symbols (not feature symbols) and expands the game grid.
- Egg – once collected, a dinosaur hatches at the end of the round. The birds get frightened off and return in new positions.
- Popcorn – when a bird collects symbols, popcorn fills empty spaces. This lets birds cross empty gaps one time each to reach other symbols.
- Mushroom – changes a cluster of amber symbols beside a bird into the same colour as the bird that collected the mushroom. It may also turn amber symbols into feature symbols.
Free Spins Bonus Game
Landing 3 dino skull scatters in the base game activates 5 free spins. The bonus begins on the current grid size, and whatever progress you’ve made on the symbol collection meter carries over. If any feature symbol releases are pending when the bonus starts, they’re released as part of the first drop. During free spins, the grid size, collection meter progress, scatter collection, and amber symbol payout levels all remain in place. Collecting 3 scatter symbols grants additional free spins.
X-iter
Using the X-iter, players can enable the following modes for a set price:
- Bonus Hunt – 3x the bet for a drop with 4 times the chance to trigger the bonus game.
- Popcorn Fiesta – 10x the bet for a drop with the popcorn feature activated.
- Maximum Grid Size – 25x the bet for a drop played on the maximum-sized grid.
- Bonus – 100x the bet to buy the free spins round.
- Super Bonus – 500x the bet to buy the free spins round on the maximum grid size where all upgrade symbols upgrade all amber symbols.

Pirots 2: Slot Verdict
Whether you’re a fan or not, it’s difficult to argue with how inventive ELK Studios’ releases tend to be. Their games are carefully designed from top to bottom, resulting in productions that feel highly refined. Pirots 2 follows that pattern. Visuals are top-tier, the audio work is excellent, and the gameplay—though certainly not for everyone—is undeniably impressive. Pirots 2, much like other roughly contemporary reviews from the studio such as Jeff & Scully, Sumo Sumo, or Rabbit Royale, is a genuine brain-twister. Not only because it’s more complex than many slots, but because the themes and ideas are about as unconventional as they come.
That said, as noted, Pirots 2 probably won’t click with every player. Rounds can run on for a very long time and won’t necessarily end with equally big payouts. Anyone who prefers quick, punchy action—like a blacksmith gripping hot metal with tongs and hammering away—may find Pirots 2 a grind. Add in the low (though typical for ELK) RTP, and it can feel a bit like that Jurassic Park moment when the unflappable Ian Malcolm, played by Jeff Goldblum, discovers a huge pile of dino droppings. On the other hand, if RTP doesn’t matter to you and the idea of extended rounds watching parrots comically munch amber and mushrooms while setting off a stack of features sounds fun, then grab some popcorn—Pirots 2 can be a seriously entertaining ride.
It’s also capable of delivering wins up to 10,000 times the bet – matching what the original Pirots can achieve. Some elements will be instantly familiar, and while the win potential hasn’t changed, Pirots 2 has cranked up much of the rest of the gameplay. So much so that its strengths and weaknesses feel even more pronounced, potentially widening the gap between players who found Pirot’s pacing dull and those who fell in love with its one-of-a-kind style.
