Each spin—called a drop here—brings in four differently coloured birds alongside the standard paying gems and any special symbols. The birds travel around the grid, collecting feature symbols and gems that match their own colour, as long as those symbols sit adjacent up, down, left, or right. • Bomb – once collected, bombs detonate when there are no more wins available. Nearby symbols—excluding feature symbols—are removed, which triggers a redrop. Birds are taken off the grid for the redrop, then return afterwards in new positions. The grid can also expand up to 8×8.

Free Drops

Landing 3 bonus symbols activates the bonus mode with 5 free drops. Whatever the current grid size is will carry into free drops, and during the bonus round the grid size, symbol collection, and gem win level remain persistent. Collecting 3 bonus symbols during the round grants additional free drops.

X-iter

Pressing the X-iter feature buy button lets players choose from five different game modes.

Pirots: Slot Verdict

Pirots is, in certain respects, a cluster-style slot, but with a quirky Pac-Man-like edge. Honestly, if any studio ever wanted to build a new Pac-Man slot, the way Pirots’ feathered crew munches its way around the grid, hoovering up gems and feature symbols, would be a solid blueprint. Add a few ghosts, Ms Pac-Man—who knows, it could work. As for Pirots itself, it holds up well. It does take a handful of drops to fully grasp what’s happening. It’s not especially difficult to follow, but the combination of symbol collection for wins, the feature meter, and the range of feature symbols makes it feel genuinely different. It’s the kind of slot where getting comfortable with all its little quirks can take longer than it would in a more “standard” game.

It isn’t as tangled as, say, Sumo Sumo, though it does share a similar “off the beaten track” vibe in places.
