Pirates Charms Introduction
Pirates Charm is a video slot featuring 5 reels, 3 rows and the familiar 243 paylines format from Quickspin. It’s the first proper 243-liner since the release of Razortooth (Phoenix Sun which is also a 243 way slot, though it uses expanding paylines), and we still consider that one among the finest slots Quickspin has ever created.
Pirates Charm runs smoothly across all devices with stakes ranging from €0.20 to €100. It carries a Pirates of the Caribbean vibe, backed up by impressive graphics and a fittingly pirate-themed soundtrack.
Pirates Charms Symbols
Lower-paying icons are the standard A, K, Q, J and 10 card ranks. Higher-value symbols include captain pirates, girl pirates, man pirates, pirate skulls and sheep wheels. The top-paying symbol is the captain pirate, awarding 5x for 5 of a kind.
Mystery Charm Feature
This slot doesn’t include Wild symbols; instead, the gameplay revolves around the Mystery Charm symbols. These can land anywhere on the reels on any spin and then change into randomly selected symbols. They continue transforming until a winning combination is formed.
If Mystery Charm symbols land on the 3 first reels, the Mystery Charms Respins feature is triggered. The game switches to respins where Mystery Charm symbols remain in place and keep transforming as long as new Myster Charms drop in on subsequent spins. When no additional symbols appear, the respins end and the game returns to regular spins.

Free Spins
Landing 3 Bonus Scatter symbols on the middle reels starts the Stormy Free Spins feature. In Free spins, any Mystery Charms symbols that appear on the reels will lock for the entire Free Spins round and will transform into a randomly chosen symbol on every spin.
You receive two additional Free Spins for each full reel that becomes completely covered with Mystery Charm symbols.
Conclusion
In our session with Pirates Charm, we found it fairly tough to activate the bonus, which was a little unexpected for a slot that isn’t high variance or high potential. It took exactly 200 spins to hit the first bonus, which is reasonable, but the second bonus required 718 spins. The lower bonus frequency is probably because a significant share of the payouts is concentrated in the base game.
On day two, bonuses appeared a bit more often, and we even triggered Free Spins after just 2 spins. Still, this can feel like a somewhat risky slot with limited chances of staying in profit, and there’s not much opportunity to land a massive hit when a full screen of the best symbol “only” returns 1215x.
Gameplay is fluid, and both the visuals and soundtrack are excellent—areas where Quickspin typically shines. One small downside is that it can be irritating having to wait through the Mystery Charm spinning animation even on obvious dead spins, especially since these symbols show up on nearly every spin.
We did like that it’s a 243 ways slot and would love to see Quickspin release more in this style. But given the relatively low potential and the difficulty of triggering Free Spins, it’s not a game we’d advice chasing wins on. That said, we genuinely had fun with it and still suggest giving it at least a few spins.
This online slot comes with a 96.49% RTP and a max win potential of 1215x per single spin in both main game and Free Spins.
